Introduction: I make handmade, custom interior wood shutters. My specialty is configuring wood shutters to specs that most companies will not do. The majority of my requests are for wider panels that the major manufacturers won't provide because they would have to change their frame specs, and they are just not going to do that. It is easier for them to dictate the specs that fit their mass production templates. Wider panels do require a more substantial frame, and I have the flexibility that the major companies can't provide. So, when your clients say they want two panels covering their window instead of the three or four required by the major companies, they have just entered the bull's eye of my target market. My goal is mainly for the "problem" windows and not the whole house. I am a small shop and the big guys can pop out 30 windows faster than I can anyway. That's why they won't accommodate, speed is money. So, one to five windows is in my zone. Bids are generated after the measure.
