Jonathan was responsive, professional and an overall pleasure to work with on my project. I would absolutely recommend his services and I'm sure my company will work with him again soon!Jul 1, 2016Verified
Jonathan's expertise and prompt service is more than I expected. In addition, his pleasant personality was only surpassed by his patience. Would use him again and would highly recommend him to anyone.Feb 9, 2016Verified
I felt like I working with My own extended team.Nov 11, 2017
Horrible experience with this designer. I hired him to "pretty up" a pre-existing six-slide PowerPoint presentation. I wanted to improve its overall appearance by adding images and using better graphics. From the beginning, there were issues. First, there were a few hiccups with scheduling the chat to discuss the project. Finally, when we video chatted, I was told that the project would be completed in 5 to 6 hours and his fee is $30 per hour. I told him, great, because I need to print out the presentation that evening for a meeting the next morning. Then, he said he would send me a few templates and images to get the ball rolling. After a few hours, I hadn't received anything from him. I even sent him a template and some suggestions for graphics to be used in the presentation. No response. I'm asking him for updates. No response. I'm starting to panic. I'm hoping that he simply chose a template and started working on the project to meet the deadline. I call, no answer. The voicemail greeting is weird. Red flags are going up all over the place. An hour and a half before the deadline, he sends me a few templates. Confused, I asked, why are you sending me templates an hour and a half before the deadline? Have you done nothing thus far? And, if you are able to complete the project in one hour and a half, then why are you quoting me 5 to 6 hours of work? He then asks me if he can work on the project overnight so that I can print it in the morning. Of course, this is unacceptable because revisions always take a long time and I needed it to be ready for my meeting. In short, he wasted about eight hours of my time, time that another designer could have used to complete my project. So, I hired someone in Indonesia from another freelance website for $55 to do the project at 9:30 pm. This guy completed the job in an hour, but there were so many mistakes that the revision process lasted the entire night to get the project completed. To be sure I was close to the printer in case the document was completed, I spent the night in a 24 hours FedEx printing office. It was 7:30 AM the next morning when I finally had my project done. Then, I had to go to work on zero sleep. I can't speak to the quality of "Jonathan Mason's" work. All I can say is that he sent me a few templates and wasted a lot of time when he could have been honest from the get-go about his inability to meet the deadline. And, of course, he cost me a good night's sleep the night before an extremely important meeting. As an aside, I strongly suspect that he's not the one doing the actual work. He's likely the translator or spokesman for a team of non-English-speaking designers overseas, hence the lag in communication, lack of respect for deadlines, and disorganization.Oct 7, 2017The Design Source's reply
I will say that my mistake with this job is accepting a job that I realistically could not complete in the time allotted--- trust me, I feel bad about it and have made a commitment never to accept jobs with a deadline like this again. The client is a trained marketing specialist, she knows how destructive bad reviews can be and I tried to calmly remind her: ‘Considering you are someone who is probably quite knowledgeable with reputation management and marketing you know how destructive negative reviews are. I honestly tried my best. The mistake I did make is taking a job that could not be completed by my means in the time expected, I realize now that I cannot take projects with deadlines like this anymore. I am genuinely sorry for the lack of foresight and for any stress, anxiety or inconvenience it caused. If the bad review is to protect other people from me, don't worry I won't be taking any jobs with this kind of deadline, I do very well with wider deadlines. If the review is out of anger, please, search your conscience, you may find it's not good for you or anyone, but do as you wish. Once again, I am sorry, I wish you well. Jonathan’ However it seems she wanted vengeance not justice and to act out of anger. At the end of the review she started conjecturing about me having a crew of designers overseas--- which I don’t have. A wise person once said ‘look at other people’s behavior towards you as a reflection of their relationship with themselves rather than your value as a person’. I really didn’t want things to go this way and I wish I could have kept my commitment to her, however, I have changed my policies to make sure I can keep my commitment to everyone else in the future.
