I've had literally decades of experience working with writers of all ages, genders, cultures: you name it. For the last seven years, I've worked with many writers who need help with short projects like CVs or cover letters, with marketing collateral, with FaceBook ads. I've written copy for websites, long and short. I understand the modern attention span, and I can write or edit for that.
I particularly enjoy book projects and particularly those in the early, planning and drafting stages. I'm an excellent co-pilot, a cheerleader when necessary, a coach, as well as an editor. I like collaborating with others. I can help writers at whatever stage, however, by providing the appropriate editing for that moment: developmental editing, line editing, copy editing and eventually proofreading.
I also have assembled a team for those projects, so I can serve as content manager and refer book designers and more specialized editors (index, footnotes, bibliographies, etc.) when and if needed.
Check above for photographs of the wide variety of works I've edited, some with participation from my team as well.
I was a teacher for many years and sitting beside someone (literally or not) and helping them sharpen something they've written, or writing something for someone that expresses what they could not have said themselves gives me joy.
With Talking Family History, my interview guide product, I enjoy providing something that is a service to my clients—something that makes them grateful and helps connect them with their loved ones.
Language is communication, and communication is connection. I love being in that work.
