- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $35 per half hour (for young children) and $55 per hour (for older children and adults). I teach out of my home studio in Oakland.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been teaching private piano, voice and clarinet lessons for several years. I have classical and jazz piano and vocal training, as well as extensive knowledge of improvisatory techniques, theory, and composition. I have a degree in Jazz Studies, with a concentration in vocal performance, and I am a member in good standing of the National Association for Music Education.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up taking piano lessons, but I started teaching by way of a voice lesson! I had never sung before, but I'd always wanted to. I'd had several friends who had taken a lesson and gotten a lot out of it, so I decided to do the same. I fell in love with voice, and I decided that I wanted to give back to others in my position - I began teaching piano and voice and fell in love with the work.
