About
Beyond my masters degree in Vocal Arts from a top music school, I have continued to study and research with a top vocal pedagogue in Hollywood. The physiology and science behind vocal function has allowed me to enhance my teaching and the results speak for themselves. My students are lead singers in bands, musicals, operas and obtain music scholarship in college, performing all over the world. The fulfillment that every lesson brings the student as they hear their voice progressing and they obtain their vocal goals!

Tara is great. As soon as she heard my voice she was able to tell me what we needed to work on and we got started right away. After one lesson I feel confident in my vocal abilities and am excited to hear the improvements in my voice as I stick to it. Her knowledge of the voice is truly helpful during the learning process because not only are you learning how to sing, you are learning what your voice is doing while you are singing. I highly suggest Tara as an instructor. :)

Tara is, simply put, wonderful. I went in with zero experience in the way of singing. She had me carrying a tune in less than a month! She tailors every lesson to you on the fly, encourages you to draw from your own tastes in music, breaks down lessons in ways that are easy to take on and understand, and (most imporrantly in my mind) she does it all while still being fun to talk to! Lessons have a way of feeling more like hanging out than actual work/practice. I would highly recommend taking lessons from her if you can!

I've been taking lessons from Tara for a few months now and I can hear huge improvements already. Over the years I've had a couple of voice teachers and some of them just tell you to sing louder or focus on your breathing, but Tara can give you precise feedback along with exercises that will immediately improve your voice.

I have been taking lessons with Tara for a little over a year now and I just can't believe my improvement. I came to Tara thinking I was an alto, but learned I was a soprano and that I can hit some high notes that I would have never attempted before. In addition to that, her knowledge of what the body is doing as you sing is out of this world! She can explain everything that is going on and can tell you exactly what you are doing wrong and how to correct it. If you are looking for a teacher who really knows her stuff and won't harm your vocal instrument, she is an excellent choice! I couldn't have found a better music teacher...

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Get their voices in excellent shape! Help prepare students for performances and auditions. Teach students how their voices work and how to eventually begin to problem solve things themselves. Become a better singer and musician!

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

No two voice teachers are alike! Take a lesson from different teachers so you can find the right match for you. Ask questions, even simply "Why?" when a teacher asks you to do something. They should have answers based on truth, on scientifically proven fact. Its important the teacher can answer your questions and the answer means something substantial.

  • What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I have taught at the collegiate level. I currently teach Voice at Ventura College.
