Scott was great to work with, he gave me suggestions that helped me to decide just what I wanted done. Scott is a hands on contractor and did most of the work himself. He drove to a previous job site so I could visually see what I was getting. I decided on a diamond pattern with broom brush in in different directions and a boarder around the edge of the driveway. The effect was assume, by using this pattern it gave the driveway the look of using different shades of concrete(no color was used). this is by far the best looking driveway in the neighborhood. his workmanship added many more dollars in value to my home. thank-you Scott. Dan Ross a happy home owner.

Legendary! Falanisi is the man. Professional. Fair price. Work was done quick and efficiently. He is highly knowledgeable. He did such a good job with our concrete work that we went ahead and hired him to also do pavers for us in our backyard. I would definitely recommend him.

We hired George to completely landscape our front yard, back yard, including digging out all the grass flowers and weeds, landscaping the front yard into decomposite granite (DG) with stepping stones, replace the concrete driveway, and install concrete and pavers in the backyard. His and his crew worked diligently, and his price was competitive. Also, he built cement blocks and pavers for our new mailbox, and driveway solar lights for the front yard. Our driveway now looks really great and attract attention to passerby. Thank you George!

I'm glad the original contractor (Joe) never showed up for the job 8am per appointment (we cleared the garage and put everything in the yard out in the open ready foe Joe. You can just image how frustrated we were when the contractor did not show up or even call by 4pm). Mario from Creative responded to my online search and start working that very evening. Mario went the extra mile preparing before applying the epoxy paint on the garage floor. It was all completed the very next day. First class workmanship. While we waiting for the floor to dry. We already scheduled for Mario to come back next week to start working on the driveway. Two thumbs up highly recommended. D 9/9/2016

Sione began immediately after we called him and always came early to begin work. He met and spoke with us everyday before he began work and as he wrapped up for the day and walked us through every step of the way. He catered to our precise instructions and was able to complete the job to our satisfaction! He pulled up, widened, and repaved our entire driveway and made the house look beautiful. Thank you Sione!

Joseph and team filled in a hole in the backyard with gravel, dirt and road base and later laid some concrete on top to smooth it out. Once this was completed they came back and set pavers stones down in that area. What I appreciated about Joseph was that despite this being a multi-phased and multi-day project, which was difficult to quote, he stuck with the initial agreement, scope of work and price. This demonstrated flexibility and staying true to your word, a quality that is increasingly becoming more difficult to find.

Our yard was in dire need of a makeover. We hired Leo Gonzales and he has been a miracle worker ever since. He fixed the drainage problem, fixed sprinklers, removed an old fence, removed the dead lawn and graded for the new, put down landscape edging to define my beds, planted fresh sod and even put down pavers between our patio and pool. Our backyard looks beautiful now and we're so happy! And his crew does the weekly maintanence. And his prices are very reasonable. He does what he says he's going to do, and he wrote up a detailed plan with pricing before we started the job. Now when we look out at our backyard with pride. We highly suggest you give Leo a call, you won't be sorry.

I wanted to take out all the old concrete and pave everything with pavers. I contacted a few pavers companies, GoPavers, Titan Pavers, System Pavers and a few others. I am so glad I went with MB Paving. They did a fantastic job with 2000 sq ft of paving and about 70 linear ft of planters wall. They also help me fix other stuff that was left unfinished or substandard by other contractors. For example, my gate door was sagging and they helped me fixed that. The job cost is competitive with the other paving companies. They ran future landscaping light conduits and water pipes in the event that I would need them in the future. Keep in mind that I never asked them to run water pipes, they just did it. Best of all, these guys showed up early every day and leave at 4 PM like clockwork. The work also involved demoing old garage concrete slab and the driveway approach; the concrete they poured and worked on turned out fantastic. I am even afraid to step on them because I fear I would stain them. Overall, I am super happy with this company!!!!!

Over the past 10 years Eduardo Hernandez has done many landscaping projects for me, including sod and sprinkler installation, artificial turf, replacing asphalt driveway with a cement drive, cobblestone walkway, flagstone in patio, and tree trimming and removal. With these major projects out of the way, he regularly maintains the front lawn and is always willing to make time if other work becomes necessary. Eduardo is knowledgeable, personable and hardworking and I have been very pleased with all of his work.

Did a great job on my small 400 s ft backyard. I wanted concrete to be able to put my patio set, but he guided me to pavers as a cheaper option. Must say it looks good! Also a mini pathway with paver and stones. Was within my budget and looks good.

We had a great experience working with Allscapes Paving. The job manager was at the project every day making sure all our concerns are attended to and their crew worked hard to finish the project on time. Our new driveway is beautiful and it had made an enormous difference in the overall appearance of our house.

Jaime and his entire crew were great! Hard working, nice guys! They did an awesome job! We hired them to demo and completely redo our back patio and side of house. We did a dark grey concrete with a custom stamp style. This was our first big home improvement project and he kept telling me I was in good hands and I was. We ran into some hiccups along the way, as you often do with improving older homes, but we handled them together and he worked with us fairly on the additional costs. Ultimately, it was a great price for an amazing job done. Jaime is a 3rd generation custom concrete specialist and he is now busy running his own show and making his family proud. He and his team are great! I'm very happy with the project and would highly recommend him. I'll even be calling him back to do my front driveway next. :)

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you find a good concrete contractor?

Concrete contractors pave driveways, build foundations for homes, install retaining walls, create hardscaping for front and back yards, build concrete steps, and so much more. When searching for a driveway contractor, read reviews from previous customers and ask for referrals. Ask the contractor for photos of examples of their work that’s similar to what you want. Confirm they will get the proper permits so your driveway is up to code. Hiring a driveway contractor to install concrete can average $5-$6 per square foot, or more, depending on where you live, the slope and grade of the driveway site, and regional labor costs. For a new asphalt driveway, the cost could average from $3-5 per square foot. A standard concrete driveway of 500 square feet averaging $5-$6 per square foot would cost $2,500-$3,000 — so it pays to research someone who will do quality work. Excavation and grading work can increase your cost per square foot significantly. Ask whether the contractor provides a materials and labor warranty for their work. Some cracking of the concrete may occur as it settles, but you should talk with your contractor about any structural or aesthetic concerns you have. When hiring a concrete contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

        What do paving contractors do?

Paving contractors can be hired to install a concrete or asphalt driveway at your home, office or property. They can also repave an asphalt or concrete driveway that has been damaged by time, weather or heavy loads. When you are looking for a driveway contractor, request quotes from at least three professionals who are in good standing and have great customer reviews. They should do a site visit and write you a bid, detailing the work involved, materials needed, approximate length of the project and estimated cost.

The site for your new driveway will determine costs and the work required for your contractor. First, the ground must be excavated to lay a clear path. This means removing any trees, bushes and stumps. Next, the driveway contractor will grade the area, making a level surface for the concrete or asphalt. To ensure proper drainage, driveway contractors should install a sub-base of compacted gravel (or similar) 4 inches-8 inches deep, depending on your soil type. Then the concrete or asphalt may be poured and smoothed over the top. Your driveway contractor should recommend an appropriate sealant for your climate and advise you on curing time. When hiring a paving contractor, check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to redo a concrete driveway?

Replacing or renovating a damaged or time-worn asphalt or concrete driveway can boost your curb appeal and add to your home value. If your concrete driveway is nearing 20 years or more, it may be wise to invest in an entirely new driveway, instead of redoing your current one. Asphalt driveways average 15-20 years of life, so if you start needing major repairs around the 15 year mark, weigh the pros and cons of repairing or replacing it. Request bids from two to three driveway contractors to determine pricing and project scope, and check out our tips for smart hiring on Thumbtack. Here are some examples of average costs:

        • The national average cost to hire a concrete specialist is $2,750, but that price can vary greatly depending on the work needed to repair and resurface your concrete driveway, the square footage of the project, current costs of concrete, and regional labor rates.
        • Driveway contractors average $2-$3 per square foot to smooth and resurface your asphalt driveway.
        • Resurfacing concrete driveways averages $3-$10 per square foot. Pricing can depend on repairs needed, project size and geographic location.
        • Nationally, the average cost for resurfacing a 500-square-foot driveway ranges from $2,000 to $5,000.
        • Sealant for a concrete drive can cost $20-$80 per gallon.
        • Sealant for an asphalt drive averages 25 cents per square foot.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
