Elizabeth Tatum has earned my highest recommendation as a voice teacher.
My fundamentals are markedly improved and solidified. My technique is more automatic and reliable. I have made great strides in knowing and owning my voice. I didn't know I could sing and perform this well, and it feels so good to have what I always wanted.
Elizabeth hears extremely well. It is impressive how she diagnoses vocal issues (even over Zoom!!) and then works effectively and collaboratively to resolve the problem. Elizabeth has many useful tools in her toolkit and deploys them with sensitivity and grace.
My voice work covers a wide range of genres and Elizabeth has practical experience to be helpful in each area. She has suggested and found pieces to fit my needs as a learner and a performer. She is knowledgeable beyond vocal music, with a good grasp of instruments and instrumentalists.
Not only does she physically hear well, but she listens extremely well, striving to understand correctly and deeply. She has at times supported me in looking at issues that I otherwise did not think important or even outright avoided. This is so valuable (and unique), creating a safe atmosphere and space for me to fully examine, understand, and tackle both physical and mental hurdles. Always supportive, Elizabeth encourages every step of the way. My overall anxiety about performing has decreased markedly. Singing is a lot less stressful and a lot more fun!
