About
I love the body inside and out. My love for the mechanics and health of the body started when I was a young child training to be a dancer. My love for the amazing inter-workings of the body only grew as I completed my undergraduate degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. I completed the 500 hour yoga teacher training program through YogaWorks and I recently completed a Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Dongguk University. I love to combine the knowledge I have gained from all of the various modalities that I have studied and apply it to understanding the great tradition of Yoga. What I love about yoga is that it perfectly understands the connection between the mind and body.

I've been working with Marlee for about a year now and couldn't be happier with her work.
I decided to try yoga as part of an overall strategy of dealing with MS. Marlee has gone out of her way to research solutions to my special needs, and she goes well beyond my previous instructors/coaches in understanding my condition.
As a part of my overall health strategy yoga helps me to maintain range of motion and balance, both of which are compromised by the MS. Since starting with Marlee I've regained significant range of motion and my balance is improved as well.
Sessions always start with a conversation about how I'm feeling, and a visual examination of my posture and movements. Marlee tailors each session based on this in order to get the most of every session without stressing any problem areas.
Marlee is studying acupuncture and this gives her a unique approach that incorporates her instincts for healing with her yoga instruction.

Marlee is the best! We've been having private yoga classes with her for nearly a year and absolutely love it. She mixes things up, always keeping it fresh and interesting and is very responsive to particular niggles and concerns. We've learnt a lot and really look forward to the classes. Cannot recommend her highly enough.

Marlee is incredible! I've been taking classes with Marlee for a few months now and I've never felt better. She has a very unique modern way of reaching but has the wisdom of an ancient yogi. I wish I could do yoga with Marlee everyday. I'm a huge fan of her Yin and Yang classes. She is great on a private level and wonderful in a class setting as well. I can't wait to see her Thursday and highly recommend for anyone experienced or not.

I very highly recommend Marlee to anyone interested in private yoga sessions. It was a fun, but challenging class. The entire course was personalized to my ability and skill level. I have chronic shoulder pain and Marlee was able to select poses that targeted my injury without aggravating it. She was very patient walking me through each position, and clearly very knowledgeable. After each session I feel incredibly relaxed and I continue to notice the difference throughout the week.

Marlee has been working with me for almost four years. My rationale for starting yoga was to reduce shoulder discomfort from swimming and improve overall posture. The results from her yoga instruction have been impressive. She builds your strength and flexibility in a very intentional progression. Marlee is extremely knowledgeable and is very personable. She is a great teacher!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate is the same for up to 4 people! This means that you can practice yoga with your significant other, family members or friends if you like. I have worked with many couples who found that adding yoga to their routine was a great addition to their relationship.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My first questions are:
-What are you hoping to gain from your yoga experience? Are you practicing because you have pain, you want to lose weight, change your relationship with your body, reduce stress, become stronger and more flexible?
-Do you have any injuries or health concerns that I should know about? If you do have an injury or health concern, this could completely change the way that we practice. We may target certain areas with the poses and we may complete avoid other types of poses. It will also affect the pacing and mood of the class as well.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I completed my first teacher training in India in 2013 at Rishikul Yogshala. I then completed my 500 hour teacher training with YogaWorks in LA. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. I also have a Master's Degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine and recently passed my California Acupuncture License Exam. All of these trainings are relevant to the way that I teach yoga. From my training in India, I understand the culture of yoga because I was fully immersed in many of the practices that are left out of American yoga. Because I have additional training in health care, I have a deeper understanding of anatomy, injuries and diseases and can bring all of this knowledge to my classes. My understanding of Acupuncture is also relevant to my classes because sometimes I will teach poses because of the pressure points that they are stimulating.
