Recommendation for Don Maes
There was a crack in a window above our garage. Since the window was “for show only”, I did not worry about it for some 17 years. I was hoping that it was just a matter or replacing the glass. Don offered a bid of $245, but cautioned the work could be considerably more if the window had to be removed.
Upon inspection it was clear that the entire window had to be pulled. This took about 5 hours to pull the window. And another hour to put up a temporary widow cover. His cover was excellent and managed to survive storms with 50 mph winds! I suggested that we try to use the frame but simply replace the glass from a local glass store. This turned out to be a disaster. The glass arrived but the glass company cracked the glass putting it into the frame. We decided to order an entire new window from a more reliable company that Don knew. Don spent another hour dealing with vendors. He got my money back and ordered the new window.
About three weeks later the new window arrived. Don spent about 7 hours installing the window. Don was very thorough about properly sealing the new window. He also discovered that the original window had cracked because the window was a too tight a fit; he corrected this problem. He also performed some precision carpentry to make a new enclosing frame around the window and painting the frame.
At a rate of $40 per hour I paid Don $560 for his work. Of course, I also repaid him for the new window. It was money well spent for all his work and for its excellent quality. Don clearly knew the details of installing windows and was also an excellent carpenter.
I highly recommend Don for similar work.

Don is an excellent craftsman. He did a top-notch job replacing two panels of our “good neighbor fence.” We are pleased and so are our neighbors. He was respectful of our time and premises; always called to let us know his daily schedule. Will definitely use him again.

Don installed Roof racks for me and he really did an excellent job. He took extra caution to find the joists to drill the holes, so it’s very sturdy. He cleaned and touched up with paint to leave no dust or guide marks. He is very friendly and nice to work with.
