I have been taking my guitar lessons with Fred for about 2 years now! From the first day I knew he was not only an amazing guitar player, but also an amazing teacher! He always pays attention whenever you have a question or just can’t get something down! He remembers little things about you too, like the music you like to listen to and the little nuances about your playing! Fred is always inspiring and always looking to help you improve! I’ve progressed so far thanks to Fred!

Guitar Lessons

After I graduated from film school back in April 2020, I stopped operating my videoproduction company as the COVID pandemic descended. I wanted to find something else that would allow my creativity to keep growing. I thought about learning something different that didn’t involve having to leave home. The guitar seemed to be a good option. I was skeptical about learning a musical instrument through Zoom. To my surprise, the experience has proved successful, no doubt due to the amazing talent, compassion, and teaching methodology of Fred. As a person with ADHD, I can attest to how difficult it is to stay focused through a zoom class. After learning how to play several songs in a short period of time I’m confident to say that Fred is a master and obviously has experience with other ADHD sufferers.

I've wanted to be a guitar player since I was 5 years old and my father took me to a Blues festival and I saw B.B. King. My father is a guitar player but unfortunately, he is not a great teacher. A little over a year ago I signed up for lessons with Fred. He is by far the greatest music teacher I've ever had through 12 years of school, 6 years of college and over a decade working in the entertainment industry. He broke musical concepts down, explained things in a 3ay that made it all make sense, gave me practical lessons and study guides. Most importantly, he listened to me. I didn't feel like it was a cookie cutter lesson. He knew my guitar heros. He would use parts of their music or their stories to inspire me. He suggested reading materials that fed my desire for knowledge. His professionalism is top notch. Having grown up around musicians and now being a professional entertainer myself (actor, writer, director, producer and musician), professionalism means everything to me. In a years time I have far surpassed many friends that started playing around the same time. While some of can be attributed to my burning desire to be a great guitar player one day, the major reason is still Fred's ability to teach in a way that spoke to me and his ability to continue to show me the value of not just my guitars but of music as a whole and how it affects my life daily. I would strongly recommend Fred to anyone that's serious about wanting to learn about music.

Guitar Lessons

Fred has been teaching our now 11 yr old guitar for about 2 years. He makes it fun, is flexible and has so much patience. Our son has ADHD and Fred works very well with his challenges. Pleasant and always on time.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    30 minutes - $30 45 minutes - $40 60 minutes - $50 *Sibling discounts available!

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first lesson is an important time to access a student's level of experience, communication style, and musical goals. From here it is all about learning the techniques and styles that match with the students goals! I personally believe that allowing students to pick the songs they'd like to learn allows them to see learning guitar as an activity they can have fun with, instead of "needing to practice" it.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from Loyola Marymount University in 2014, where I received my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. My degree has helped me better understand how to best relay information to my students, and how to do so in a fun way! I have a unique understanding of the motivational road blocks that students encounter. I use this knowledge to put together unique lesson plans for all my students and help them succeed in an efficient time period.
