Hi! My name is Tim Marco, I’m a guitar and ukulele teacher looking for motivated students.
Lessons are in person at Seeds of Music in Pleasanton CA on Mondays.
I studied guitar performance and music theory at the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance in London and have been teaching/playing professionally for over 15 years.
I really love to show students tricks and techniques that help them sound their best. I teach all ages, skill levels and most styles of music.
Besides showing my students new songs/scales/techniques i also believe in giving them the tools to continue learning on their own. This is vital in todays world where you can find many guitar lessons on youtube but almost no guidance or direction which is required to apply the skills and make progress.
For more intermediate/advanced students I specialize in Rock, R&B, Funk, Blues, neo-soul and Jazz so we can really dive into those styles. I make sure that my lessons are fun and informative that hopefully bring a new energy to your music!

My daughter had two lessons with Tim. So far it's been great. He is professional yet makes the lessons fun. He uses great apps/websites to aide in learning the guitar. My daughter is starting to learn a new song. She is looking forward to learning more from him.

Tim does a fantastic job. He works to understand the biggest needs of his students and how to best get them from where they are to where they want to be as guitar players. He gives me plenty to work on throughout the week. All exercises keeps the process fun and productive. My playing has already noticeably improved after just 3 lessons.

Tim is a fantastic teacher and an exceptional guitar player. I have taken previous classes with other instructors, and there are a few things that make Tim stand out from the rest. He has a profound appreciation for music and an easygoing personality. He works to bring out the student's own creativity, by providing new song links and youtube videos to help the student gain a wider perspective and understanding of music and the guitar. During one lesson, he had me perform clapping exercises with a metronome to develop my rhythm. He has also sent me recorded videos to help reinforce the things we've learned in our lessons. These are things that I have not seen other teachers do. I had a previous teacher who just made me play tedious, un-engaging exercises throughout the entire lesson. And others that would practice the guitar while I performed an exercise. Tim is always present during the lessons, which I very much appreciate. One thing to note is that he structures the lessons based on what the student wants to learn. Overall, Tim is a great teacher. I would highly recommend him and always look forward to our lessons.

Tim has been simply amazing.
Our son had a real interest in guitar but he wanted a one on one experience that you cant get from videos. With Tims help he has really begun to grasp the important points of guitar playing and with every session he is more and more excited. Tim has an endless amount of patience a bounding resilience to relay information so that it is easy to understand and a regard and appreciation for the different ways students learn.
I have seen my sons concentration and control grow as his patience increases in many aspects of his studies due in large part to his want to learn and play.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically start by assessing the students knowledge of chords, songs and scales. I then tailor my lessons to adapt to their skill level and try to give them the next couple steps forward whether that be technique, a new song, a new chord or scale.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I studied guitar performance/theory at the ICMP (Institute of Contemporary Music Performance) in London. I was awarded a full ride scholarship to study.
