Welcome to Mountain Top Dog Training located in Crestline, CA in the beautiful Southern California mountains! We offer Group, Private In-Home programs (where we come to your home and train), Full Board & Train programs (full-boarding and training at our facility where you bring you dog to us), and just boarding services also. We have several programs for you to choose from, based on your budget and your wish list. We have been training and rehabilitating dogs professionally since 1977. We have also trained exotics (lions, tigers, bears, wolves, chimpanzees, elephants) for television and movies which has added tremendously to our training of dogs in being more creative than the average dog trainer. We specialize in the "difficult dog" and specifically in dog-to-dog aggression and dog-to-people aggression. Anxiety issues are also a focus of ours. We train obedience to competition level (hand signals, quick response time, etc.) but we also love to train silly things like movie tricks, touching some light noise maker to let us know it's "potty time", and we are rather famous for not taking the dog out of the dog. For example, we love dogs to jump on us to have a love-fest, but only when invited; they may be able to get on one piece of furniture with a release word, but not another piece; they can potty here, but not there; chew this, but not that; playfully bite when invited but not if not invited; etc. The 4 real serious behaviors we instill in most all our client's dogs are: 1.) You MUST be a good canine citizen, that is, no fighting, no biting. we want to be proud of you, not ashamed; 2.) You MUST never get hit by a car. So, we instill boundary control/threshold training/ no door dashing in all our clients dogs WITHOUT needing to say "Stay"; 3.) You MUST always come when called no matter what you are doing the first time, everytime we call you. This gives them more privileges than any other command we can teach; 4.) You can NEVER use inside my home as your toilet. All of our programs come with a lifetime-of-the-dog guarantee! To begin, we offer a free, extensive phone evaluation. This evaluation is where we gather a comprehensive profile of your dog(s) as you get to hear about our training techniques before you hire us! The evaluation usually takes no more than 1 hour, and we would love for the adult family members be present, via speaker phone, for the evaluation. By the way, within our Private Programs, we don't charge by the dog! 1 dog or 10 dogs is all the same to us! We look forward to serving you and helping your dog to become all that you have ever dreamed of! Woofs & Wags, The Mountain Top Dog Training TeamSee more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32.
