I had a great experience with Luiz and the Truck Easy team! We realized a few days before our move-in that we needed more help unloading our trailer for our out of state move to San Diego. I requested a quote and Luiz offered a reasonable value and even offered to squeeze us into the schedule on a Friday evening to accommodate our moving needs! Luiz and the Truck Easy team arrived early and jumped right in to unloading. We originally scheduled two hours of service, but they stayed longer in order to finish the job of unloading! They were very careful with moving items into our home and delightful to work with! I highly recommend this company for your moving needs...great value and excellent service!!

Hard working guys get you moved. Couple of small things damaged but it was a big move to another state so I guess it could have been way worse. Optional cash discount was helpful to the budget.

Working with MovingWithLove moving company was an absolute pleasure. I had a serious problem I needed to solve, which required that I find a mover within a 24 hour period, and that the mover would work with me remotely (the move in San Diego while I was out of state). Not only did MWL respond to my SOS request through Thumbtack immediately, they then made room for me in their schedule the very next day, worked with me to find the most economical way to make our move, and then showed up spot-on-time and just got to work. I’ll always be grateful to this crew for the kindness and professionalism they exhibited through their flexibility and good will. I needed help, and MovingWithLove provided the personal and professional integrity I could trust.

Moved into a 2br apartment, did not have very much to move. The movers showed up on time, were very professional, wrapped everything and made sure everything made it in the same state they picked it up in. They also went beyond what was expected of them and set up my tv. My problem was that because of HOA requirement, I had to set up a new furniture delivery on the same day. On top of that, there was someone else moving out of the building the same day which slowed down the process terribly. The movers were paid by the hour and all these circumstances made the move more expensive than I anticipated. However, as I said, the movers were courteous and professional and the price difference was mainly because of circumstances that I could not control but that you may want to think about if you move into a building with a shared elevator.

Hector and his crew did a phenomenal job today wrapping, boxing and moving all my art and wall hangings to my garage for temporary storage while my house is being prepared for real estate sale photos. The job was done professionally, cleanly, on time, and with great care and great value. I will definitely count on Valesquez in the near future when I complete my pack and move out of state Perhaps we can even hire them again at our final destination.

I recently moved to San Diego from Colorado. I was relocated here for work so I moved into a temporary place for 4 months. After moving twice in less than a year I can really tell the difference from one company to another. I was a little shaken up by the company I used to relocate to California, my experience wasn't great at all. My company paid for the first move and even though I am not paying out of my own pocket the price was absolutely outrages and my items had so much damage. After my first experience I intensive research and per a new co-worker I received 4 estimates. From the beginning One Stop Moving was much more professional than any of the other companies. The estimator took his time to explain all the details of my move and why he estimated the hours for my move. Not only did the workers take great care with my items they actually finished a hour and a half sooner than estimated. I will most certainly use them for any future moves. I can 100% state that I had a wonderful experience.

I had a lot of things to be stressed out about this weekend, but moving was not one of them! The guys at California movers did an excellent job picking up my life and hauling it across the bay. They were careful with my fragile stuff. I had already packed things before they came, but they did their due diligence to double-tape some containers they didn't think were secured enough. I appreciated that! The movers were really friendly and weren't shy about striking up conversation- about painting (I have a lot) and about how to not get scammed out of a security deposit, about checking in with me to make sure the furniture and everything is where they should be. They came to my car to help me with my bags and smaller boxes, not just relegating themselves to the moving tuck. I can tell these guys worked really hard. The whole affair took a little over 3 hours, and they came well within their arrival window of 8-10 am (Arrived at 9:30 a.m) so I had plenty of my day left to organize. Would definitely work with them again! Thank you again! California Movers. Local & Long Distance Moving - San Diego, CA, United States.

I reached out to All in 1 to help me get the rest of my junk out of my apartment in El Cajon, because I had moved to Ohio. I was REALLY nervous reaching out to someone to handle this from out of State, and felt totally comfortable in dealing with Allen. I asked for a referral for cleaning service, which they also provide, and can't be happier with the service, or the quality of work. I had some major difficulties trying to send money from out of state, and Allen was beyond patient and really went above and beyond. I got pictures sent to me after the job was done and WOW. It looks 100x better than the day I moved in. Thank you Allen + Team, for working through all of this with me, and doing an amazing job. If you ever need a reference, feel free to put me down.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.

How much does it cost to move across the country?

The national average cost for hiring cross-country movers is $1,490-$2,220. A number of factors can affect the cost. One factor is the distance you want to move. For example, an East Coast-based moving company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. Another factor is how many belongings you have. Most cross-country movers charge by the cubic foot.

The type of move you want is another consideration in cost. You can have your belongings moved exclusively and delivered on a set day, or you can opt for a consolidated move, which is less expensive. In a consolidated move your belongings are stored and transported with the goods of other customers who are moving to your general vicinity during the same general time frame as you. Your belongings should arrive within a one- to two-week window, rather than on a set day. If you want the cross-country movers to pack your belongings for you, the cost will also increase.
