FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I use 3 pricing methods, depending on what is best suited to the job. For larger projects, I typically provide a bid price representing the total cost of the project. When a customer wants multiple small tasks completed, I will track my time and bill by the hour. Lastly, I have pre-determined prices for common tasks that I encounter regularly, such as installing a light fixture.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When a customer first calls, I will have them describe what work they would like completed. If that work is within my scope of capability, I will inform the customer of my next availability, and schedule a day/time for me to come to their location and perform the work. If the work is a larger project that will take multiple days to complete, my first day onsite will be an evaluation of the site specifics and other factors that may influence the overall cost of the project. In this case, I will then build an estimate and present it to the customer for approval. Once approved, materials will be purchased and work will begin within a day or two (unless there is a wait for ordered materials to arrive).
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I do not have formal education in any trade. But I know enough to know that I don't know everything. So I seek the guidance of industry professionals whenever I encounter something I am unsure about. I refer to current local and national building codes to inform my work to ensure safety and compliance.
