My experience comes from three academic institutions I attended and working with clients over the years as an academic tutor and on Upwork. The way I track changes is through Microsoft Word. I’ll copy and paste the original content into a Word document and use the track changes tool to show what changes I made (such as with “simple mark up” and/or “all mark up” selections). As a result, you’ll have the edited document(s) to compare to the original document(s) for your review and I can provide a PDF copy if you like. I can also edit the document(s) in google drive through through Microsoft Word with the “suggestion” option feature available as a way to show tracked changes. To provide you more insight, I read through all content twice (or several times) to make sure sentences transition through paragraphs from start to finish. This includes not only checking all content is relevant to the topic at hand but brings clarity to the reader.
