My work stands out from others because I focus on the client's needs, not just teaching using one method.
I base my handwriting remediation program on the teaching principles of Handwriting Without Tears, using the handwriting program (Zaner-Blosser, D'nealian or others) used in my clients' school. I offer error-free learning. For reading, I use either the Barton Reading and Spelling Program, Funnix, or one of several fluency-building programs. The math remediation program is based on the student's particular needs.
I also have an deep understanding of assistive technology for students who struggle with reading, and can help students and parents select the correct tools.
One area I particularly enjoy is the student's satisfaction and pride in mastering an area that was formerly difficult. I also enjoy working with students who have attentional or executive-function issues -- either labeled (ADHD, autism spectrum disorders and so on) or not.
