FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I start every encounter with a phone call. It can take about 30 minutes or so. I get some information from you about your dog and what it is you are looking for. Are you looking to learn basic commands, behavior problems, or anything more specific. At the end of our conversation we make an appointment for me to come give you an orientation where I can talk more specifically about your training goals and come up with a training plan. The other part of orientation is getting to know you and your dog.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been working with dogs all my life. I went to school to be an animal care specialist where I learned how to care for our furry friends not just dogs. I have been Volunteering at a dog rescue for 2 years where I work with fosters who need a little bit of help or guidance in getting the dogs ready for a new home. I am currently a student at Penn Foster College in the veterinary technician field. I earned my Obedience instructor diploma last year. I am getting more experience in training service dogs, because of this my approach to training is very positive.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started by training my own dogs, with the help of a trainer. I then went to school and have been volunteering ever since. I have worked with a rescue and helped foster dogs and their families with a verity of training, and behavior problems, as well as obedience training. My secret passion is service dogs. It is a long hard grueling process but so rewording and fun. I love it! When in school the opportunity to foster a litter came up. I Then became a puppy foster for a while, giving me plenty of experience in house breaking. I know what people go through, and have experienced 2 am potty breaks for 5 at once. I love all dogs and have a pack of 5 dogs of my own.
