FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I was born an artist and a writer. From my earliest memory, and the stories from my parents and siblings, I was born with a crayon in my hand and with that crayon I drew and wrote poetry. The day after I graduated from high school, before going to university, my older brother, an accountant at our local bank, told me I was working with him for the summer. I found I had a natural affinity for numbers and later for management and business. I opened my first business at 16 and it continues today.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Beware of anyone who says they can guarantee results of they are talking about pitching a funding proposal or grant application. The final decision is not with the consultant but by a committee or board of directors.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It helps when a customer has prior knowledge or experience in the field, project or program for which I am consulting. Oftentimes inexperienced customers become impatient when they do not understand the process, for example of registering a new company and then the additional process for obtaining tax exempt status of a nonprofit.
