Nick (owner, Colony Construction) and Dakota are doing a medium scale bathroomremodel in our new house. We didn't have a contractor recommendation when we decided to have the bathroomremodeled, so we were careful to call Nick's references before we began. All the references gave glowing feedback about Colony Construction and Nick specifically. Nick is wonderful to work with: his work is conscientious, careful, and clean. He explains every step of the process, and keeps us updated on progress and upcoming steps. He has good ideas for meeting our needs when obstacles crop up (it's an old house). We're very happy with his and Dakota's work, and would highly recommend them.

Nick and his crew did a great job installing two recessed medicine cabinets with LED lights. He was able to handle a couple unexpected surprises dealing with plumbing behind the walls and completed the small job right on time. I definitely recommend Nick.

Colony Construction recently completed a bedroom remodel in my house. The previous owners of our home knocked down a wall between two bedrooms and Nick and his team made the large unusual room back into the two bedrooms it was and were even able to use the same carpet and it looks great!. They did a fantastic job and were very sensitive to the fact that my daughters have special needs and cleaned up their work space every night to keep my kids safe. They completed the job in a timely manner and were right on with the estimate once the work was completed. If I have any future remodeling needs, I will hire them again. Highly recommend.

Incredible work! Team was friendly and had great attention to detail. We had our cabinets and banister painted. The process was took two days in our home and was done within 4 days! Their work transformed our home. We could not be happier with our new cabinets. I would recommend colony construction to anyone looking for create service matched with great skill.

Nick installed a couple of windows for me, took out a corner, modular shower, installed a new shower pan, tiled the walls and floor, and installed shower doors. The work was done beautifully. Nick and his team are very easy to work with and they are professional. LOVE the work he did for me. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes, all of our pricing is based on the square footage.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If the customer has pictures they can text or email over that is always helpful. Otherwise, I will set an appointment to come look at the project. Sometimes, I will have suggests to make the job more efficient to save money or come out better in the end.
After the initial meeting, the customer will receive an email estimate with a breakdown of each separate charge to complete the project, such as drywall cost, painting cost, etc.
At this point, the customer and I discuss the overall cost of the project and see if we need to make any changes.
Once everything has been agreed upon, we schedule a start date for the project.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have an engineering degree and additional training courses in order to have a California general contractor's license.
I have also taken additional courses for elder safety in the home and ADA upgrades related to safety.
