These days, one of the most important things when hiring an appliance repair company is understanding the total cost before the work begins. Some companies only mention the diagnostic fee at first, and then after they arrive, the repair price can be much higher than expected.
A friend of mine had a dishwasher issue. She paid $120 for the diagnosis, and after checking it, she was told the final repair cost would be $300. That was almost as much as buying a new dishwasher, so it was hard to know if the repair was even worth it.
I had a similar problem with my dishwasher not draining. I requested a few estimates because I wanted to understand the repair cost upfront.
