ALA IT provides repairs for all types of computers, laptops and networks. We service the IT of businesses and individuals. We provide two types of service; managed and un-managed.

We welcome local businesses to try our services FREE for one hour. We will send a certified technician to your place of business to troubleshoot and repair any computer or server issue free of charge for one hour with no obligation of additional time or work. Chances are you are interested in one or more of our services, give us the chance to provide those services to you absolutely free for one hour.

Laptop Services - A Leap Ahead takes pride in the skill of it's laptop technicians. All of our work is done in-house and includes from DC jack replacement, to LCD screen replacement and everything in between. Most of our laptop repair services are provided at a competitive flat rate, with no hourly charges.

Computer Services - Generally, we can repair anything with regard to a desktop PC or a server PC. We also check the status of your warranty through your computers manufacturer free of charge.

Business Services - We have experience with all windows operating systems as well as Server and Small Business Server 2003 and 2008. We have experience maintaining Exchange, AD and SQL. We have experience working with Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, and related products. Our knowledge comes from several years of working with small businesses and using these products frequently in our own business.

Website and Email Services - A Leap Ahead can help you make changes to your existing website. We can setup new email addresses and troubleshoot any email related issue.

Remote Support - Our remote software is among the best in the business. If you are looking for privacy, our one-use remote option removes our software as soon as we are done servicing your machine. For our managed care clients, we are able to remote into your server or workstation to fix issues from anywhere. We can access a computer, and if necessary, we can even remote in from our smartphones!

Our managed care maintenance services is provided for a monthly fee, which is ideal for individuals and small business owners who want to manage the cost of their IT. Our managed care service software monitors your computers and servers 24/7, and alerts us when errors or viruses occur. Our system also manages your scheduled windows updates, makes sure your anti-virus software stays up-to-date, maintains an active hardware and software inventory, alerts us of installed dangerous blacklisted programs, and schedules other vital tasks that are critical to computer health. We stay committed full-time to keeping your important services and infrastructure running, so you don't have to.

Our managed care users enjoy a lower hourly rate for service.

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. In our business environments we most often solve software issues, including how software interacts with the network, printers and other hardware. For individual customers it's data recovery and virus / malware removal for our most common job.

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. The most important factor of our business is response time. A Leap ahead boasts an on average 30 minute response time to your critical computer needs. Most problems are solved in under an hour through our state of the art ticket and response system.

Q. What questions should a consumer ask to hire the right service professional?

A. You should be asking if the company has all the relevant licensing and insurance as well as the education and experience to best serve their IT needs.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. Our excellent customer service and our experience working with fast paced, high expectation business customers gives us the expertise and experience to solve any problem and bridge the gap between new and existing technologies to meet their needs.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. We take pride in our honest and detailed interactions with our customers. The problems we solved are explained to the customer in a way that everyone can understand. We also have a great ticket documenting system for tracking prior issues.

Q. Do you have a favorite story from your work?

A. Not really a story but an experience. I was once contacted to see if I would solder a new LCD panel into the dashboard of an Audi. It was the first time I had soldered a ribbon cable directly, luckily everything turned out fine and it worked.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. We recently installed several wireless access points in a very large old brick community center that required a lot dexterity and thinking on our feet to accomplish the full range of WI-Fi connectivity. The community center is now one of our managed care customers.

Q. What are the latest developments in your field? Are there any exciting things coming in the next few years or decade that will change your line of business?

A. I look forward to seeing how our current infrastructure integrates with the cloud and the types of oppurtunities that brings. We are already experimenting with Server 2011 which integrates many cloud features.

Q. Describe your most recent project, what it involved, how much it cost, and how long it took.

A. I saw a computer that was randomly rebooting during use, which could have been any of the many problems wrong with the system. The bios was several versions out of date. The priviliges were missing or currupt for some services, Windows update would not run anymore and the paging file was turned off. I also found some malware. It could have been any one or more of those issues causing a random reboot and I repaired all of them. The system runs great now and we charged $65 for that service.
