Hired on Thumbtack
On Thursday I sent pictures to 3 companies and got quotes. In my post I mentioned there were 2 yards approx of dirt and a few household items. The company was responsive, price was reasonable and I booked for a Saturday pick up. On Saturday, they message they would be late- which was fine. When they showed- it was 1 person and a small wheel barrel. They were not prepared for the load. They mentioned they would need to “ comeback to finish the job tomorrow” and left. I was then messaged that they were not going to pick up the dirt and they were taking $175 off the quoted amount.
I was polite and pushed back mentioning “ the load was the dirt, the other items I could have taken to the dumps myself for $60”. We settled on an amount and they made it right in the end. I would say don’t over promise and under deliver. I could have used another company to take it all away- now I’m stuck either having to do this all over again.
