FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I decided to start All Star Accounting,I had already spent 13+ years in the accounting field. I began my career as a bookkeeper in 1993, for the next 13 years I worked as a Senior Staff Accountant, controller, and Accounts Payable Manager for both large and small businesses. In 2006 I had made a move to DC, from San Diego, and wanted to take a break from corporate land. I decided to go back to the basics of bookkeeping and started freelancing. After a couple months I was turning clients away! I was shocked at the huge demand for a accountant/bookkeeper with my background. After about six months I created All Star Accounting with my cousin, Andrew Miller. With in 6 months we were hiring bookkeepers...we haven't look back since! With in 3 years we were nationwide. In this economy, more than ever, businesses need to have their books in order. My extensive accounting background has been key in creating a world class company that provides our clients with qualified bookkeepers and outstanding service.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
We started All Star Accounting out of a huge need for a professional bookkeeping service. You have two extremes out there - 1. A random bookkeeper that charges $10/hour (SUPER SCARY) 2. Your CPA/EA that will do your bookkeeping for $250/hour. You want to make sure that your bookkeeper can have an intelligent conversation with both you as the business owner as well as your tax professional. Our bookkeepers undergo criminal background checks and go through a thorough screening process. Just because claims to be a Quickbooks expert does NOT make them a good bookkeeper. The last thing you want is a bookkeeper that doesn't know the difference between debits and credits. ~ Sarah Nance, CEO
