Hillary Gage says, "My AC unit went out during one of San Diego's hottest weeks and we were definitely feeling it at the house. I tinkered around with it and tried my best to troubleshoot, but to no avail. I got in touch with Straight Shooter and they sent a tech (Nick) out the next day to assess the problem. He initially diagnosed that the issue was a faulty thermostat as there was no power going from the controller to the unit. He installed a new Ecobee smart thermostat for me (which I love and completely recommend). After that, the unit started right back up. And you would think the story ends, there, but no, there was another issue yet to be discovered. Nick noticed that the air above the fan on the unit was really just ambient temperature, when it should be warmer than the air around it. He checked the coolant pressure on the unit and discovered it was completely empty. He then started taking off the cooling line housing that runs up the side of the house and into the attic and saw that the coolant was leaking out. I had just had the roof on the house redone earlier in the week and the AC went out while the roofers were working on it. Nick climbed up into the attic and discovered that the roofers had accidentally shot a nail through my cooling line, causing the AC to shut down. He took pictures, documented everything, and talked me through all the troubleshooting steps he had taken so I knew what was going on and how to explain it. He then encouraged me to reach out to the roofing company to see if it was something they would be willing to fix. I did just that and the roofing company sent their HVAC tech the next day to correct the problem. Nick was thorough, he was professional, and his attention to detail and documentation of his findings helped me explain the issue to the roofing company who fixed the problem at not extra charge to me. Nick was awesome and so is Straight Shooter. Fantastic customer service and expertise in their field. I left a voicemail message and within 15 minutes Giselle replied to my call. I was able to make an appointment for the following day to have the air ducts cleaned. The following day, owner Daniel Lazmi showed up on time, went into the attic and took pictures of the air ducts. Daniel showed me pictures that showed some air ducts had rips inside of them. This was a surprise to be because four years earlier I had purchased a very expensive AC unit which included ALL air ducts to be replaced, unfortunately only a few were replaced. Daniel replaced ALL the air ducts but not before placing a rug up the stairs and down the hall. When Daniel was done replacing the air ducts, he literately vacuums under every air vent in my house. Daniels professionalism, expertise and wonderful personality made me a very happy customer."See more
