Furniture Assembly

Availability and Punctuality: Tom was great. He came on less than 24 hours notice to my apt in San Marcos upon my request and made himself available the afternoon after I first messaged him. Efficiency: I initially requested that he assemble only my coffee table that I was having trouble with. But, he charges not per item, but by the hour. Since he finished assembling the table within about 30 mins, he went on to assemble my two other dining table chairs, tightened the screws on my accent chair, and hanged two picture frames, all within two hours. Rate: This was nothing short of an extreme value for all the things he accomplished that I listed above. He charges $130 for two hours (He has a two hour minimum and I believe $65/hr after). When I checked other furniture assembly services online, they wanted to charge me around $280 for simply assembling one coffee table. Tom, on the other hand, did that, and then some, as I noted above, for a much cheaper price. Professionalism: Tom was very pleasant to talk to in person, and was very responsive to my messages on Thumbtack. I will most definitely be retaining Tom again for when the rest of my furniture arrives and for my other home projects.

Tom was very professional and his work is excellent! He assembled my furniture in good time, answered questions I had and was very pleasant. If anyone is looking for a handyman/contractor, I definitely recommend Tom!

Furniture Assembly

Tom was great! I’m 8 months pregnant and on bedrest and really needed some nursery furniture built. I had hired someone previously who cancelled on me the first time due to car trouble, then a second time left in the middle of the project due to a stomach ache. I messaged Tom right away and he was able to come out same day and get the job done beautifully. The dresser and nightstand I ordered on Amazon literally came in pieces, nothing was attached, and every review said it was a nightmare to assemble. Tom also said it was one of the hardest furniture assemblies he’s ever done but he got both pieces completely finished in 2.5 hours. On top of that he’s a very nice guy! I will definitely will be hiring him again for future projects!

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

    I usually charge a $55 hourly fee with a 2hr minimum. The minimum helps offset transportation and other expenses.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    I answer a request and invite the customer to contact me to iron out any questions. Then we decide on a convenient time for both of us and I always confirm our appointment the day before. I also call the client when I'm heading their way.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    When you have a career that spans from apprentice to foreman to project manager it teaches a person so much. Also, being a homeowner and family man taught me about the things it takes to repair and maintain a home and these are the majority of my requests.
