About
Hi! My name is Rachael, and I've been teaching piano, drums, guitar, and ukulele throughout San Diego County since 2016. I earned my Bachelor's degree at Berklee College of Music in Boston where I was a piano major with a focus on contemporary writing and production. After graduating in 2012, my work with the Chicago Symphonietta led me to Chicago where I began writing music for short films and ad agencies. In 2016, the sunny weather drew me to San Diego where I began my vision for Foster Music - private music instruction that inspires students to create and share music that reflects their unique interests and voice, while providing a strong foundation of the fundamentals of music, in a fun and supportive environment.
Looking forward to meeting you & making some music!

Rachel was great with my son learning how to play the electric drums and my daughter with the piano. Loved how talented she was to teach them both back to back. It was a great help to have her experience and work with our schedule. She was very patient and kind. She is very responsive and would great with any kids and instruments.

Rachel is kind, knowledgeable, and great at working with kids! (And adults.) We had her teach some ukulele lessons and piano lessons to both myself and my daughter, and she was very patient and kind, great to work with. She also was knowledgeable and able to recommend specific books, practice techniques, etc. If we have time in our schedule for lessons again we will definitely sign up with Rachel!

Amazing and makes the lesson personal by cattering to your needs. Always finds ways to make the lesson or assignments interesting. Always recommend to at friends looking or curious about lessons.

Rachael has been very helpful with our family's growth in music. Piano, drums, guitar, bass or even the ukulele have been topics. My children stay engaged by choosing the instrument they want for any lesson. She helps us find the tools and techniques to learn and enjoy our instruments.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$40 for 30-minute lesson
$55 for 45-minute lesson
$70 for 60-minute lesson
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to start by getting to know the student & their background in music (if any), their music goals/interests, and how much time they can put in each week for practice (for some it's 10 minutes, 3-4 times a week, for another student it could be 2 hours every day! It really depends on your experience and goals)
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
