FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My prices are very straightforward- $250 per hour from the time the music starts, until the time the music stops. I generally have a 5 hour minimum but I'm willing to be flexible depending on the type of event. I do not charge extra for setup and travel time, additional microphones or multiple room setups.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I definitely keep an eye on the music charts, as well as people's habits of requesting songs so that I can keep current with the best music that's out there. I like to keep a very diverse music collection and I'm always learning about new bands, producers and musicians to showcase.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I helped to launch a wedding DJ company about 7 years ago in Chicago called Style Matters. The owner, Spencer, had the amazing idea of doing very boutique, sophisticated, custom tailored playlists and soundtracks for his friend's weddings, and when he started getting double booked he reached out to a small number of DJ colleagues to help the company grow. I've been a club DJ for 16 years now and still enjoy DJing club/dance events regularly, but weddings have provided a fantastic education and training to handle all sorts of situations, and I'm very glad to have grown immensely as a DJ from this.
