We used Be James Team to install the container store’s Elfa shelving system in our walk-in closet, mud room and laundry room. We tried to ask our remodeling contractors to install just top tracks and were not satisfied with their job. Then we tried ourselves and found the installation requires a lot of alignment and was much harder than we thought. So we decided to find some help. Although the technician Alex spoke limited English, he was very patient to follow our instruction. Instructions printed by the container’s store and on BILT app helped our communication. Alex worked very hard for 5 hours to reinstall 8 top tracks then installed 22 vertical standards and aligned them with necessary spaces. Then we took another 3 hours to install shelves and hangers by ourselves. We were really thankful for his help so we can get this done in a day.

Overall: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐️ (maybe 4.5, but I'll round up) I would recommend Be James Team for your handyman needs. Solid work quality and attention to detail, reasonable value, & a commendable willingness to make things right. I had a window screen replaced, a door latch fixed, a wood cabinet door that was splitting fixed, 3 invisible shelves hung, a bathroom faucet replaced, and 3 under-cabinet kitchen lights replaced. The work took about 3 hours to complete for my handyman, Dmitrii. Work quality: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ The sealant on the door latch was applied a bit messily, but that's my only complaint about the work, and it still cleaned up fine after it dried. Dmitrii was persistent and detail oriented, and I could tell he was quite skilled. I was especially pleased by his work on the invisible shelves and the window screen replacement. For the invisible shelves, he made sure the shelves he hung were perfectly level (even by my highly particular standards), worked to understand how I wanted them hung despite a language barrier, and made helpful suggestions about using different anchors and screws for the particular wall he was installing it on than the ones included in the packaging (the kind of thing that makes you glad you hired someone to do it for you). For the window screen, he made sure every bit was perfectly attached, and it actually fits better in the window frame than it did before. I appreciated the effort he put in to make this happen. The under cabinet lights were perfectly flush, the faucet was replaced successfully without any leaks, the cabinet door seems to be holding together well, and the door now latches properly. Punctuality: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Dmitrii showed up ~30 minutes late due to traffic, but Be James Team communicated about an hour beforehand, which I appreciated. My appointment was Saturday at noon and Dmitrii was driving into San Francisco. Shit happens. Communication/Responsiveness: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Unfortunately, Dmitrii didn’t speak any English, so communication was done through Google translate, hand gestures, and calling his manager occasionally (who did speak English). That being said, he still made an effort to inform me about what he was doing/did along the way and worked to understand what I wanted. I'm as pleased as I could be with respect to the language barrier. On the other hand, Be James Team is highly responsive in general. I think they must have someone around on the clock to reply to communications. This makes the process of scheduling with them and working with them in general very easy. In fact, it was why I had chosen them over another pro to begin with. Value: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ Initially, I felt wronged in terms of the value because I was charged for the time (3 hours, some of which was due to traffic) Dmitrii was gone at Lowe's picking up a new faucet, new screen material for the window screen frame, masking tape and glue for the splitting cabinet, sealant for the door latch, different anchors/screws for the shelves, and warm-toned under cabinet lights. The owner of Be James Team reached out to me to make it right though. Since I was paying hourly, this wasn't something they had to do, but it went a long way in improving my perception of the value of the job. It also says a lot about a company these days when they're willing to work with you to make things right.
