FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
As is typical in the design industry- I have an hourly fee + a markup for goods purchased based on what degree of discount I receive. I always pass along my discount to my clients though and have a very transparent billing system so clients are always aware of what type of discount I am receiving.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After an initial phone conversation to learn about the scope of work, I typically send my potential clients a questionnaire to fill out, invite them to a shared pinterest page, and schedule an on site meeting. After meeting on site we are usually ready to understand whether working together would be a good fit. Based on the answers to the questionnaire and the images on Pinterest I am able to develop a better sense of what overall aesthetic the client is aiming for. From there I select fixtures, furniture, fabrics, and materials to present. I like to work collaboratively with my clients so there is definitely a lot of back and forth and listening to client's feedback.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My initial education degree was in communication, after which I pursued my law degree, and finally my interior design degree. Via my design degree I gained skills such as drafting, AutoCad, and an understanding of how spaces need to be outfitted for comfortable living, but the skills I gained in my prior education were not for waste! I have found both my communication and law degree have been very helpful for communicating with my clients and vendors and successfully negotiating on my clients behalf when necessary.
