We had a problem with a leaking window in our home. We contacted several contractors and received bids for the work. We chose Barton Builders based on the quality of the bid, the price and the discussions we had with Steve Barton about the job. The window is 10' by 5' and is over 30' in the air and there is no easy access to that side of the house. Steve brought in a scaffold contractor who had to lift the scaffold over the house and erect a 3 story structure in order to reach the window. At all times Steve worked with the sub-contractor to make sure that the work was performed safely and properly. Upon beginning the demo phase of removing the old window, a serious amount of water damage was discovered. This required the removal of a large section of the back wall of the house and the repair of the structural damage. Steve worked with us on costing the work and scheduling the work so that there was minimal impact on the overall job. Steve had a copper flashing fabricated for the new window to insure that it would never leak again. The window is of excellent quality. The stucco repair, exterior painting, and interior dry wall repair were all accomplished on schedule and on budget and were of excellent quality. Steve is great to work with and listens to what you have to say. I would certainly use Steve again if the need arises and would recommend him to anyone looking for a solid contractor.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

General Contracting framing, deck install, window install, interior remodel, exterior trim and siding, complete bathroom remodel, kitchen remodel, arbors and fences. Sub contracting with plumbers, electricians, drywall, painting, tile setters, hardwood flooring, roofers. I work with an excellent architect/designer ( if required)

  • Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently took on a bathroom remodel job here in SF. The existing walls were dry rotted and moldy. I completely demoed the entire room and started from scratch. I framed the floor walls and ceiling. I brought a sub contractor to install the slate floor and stone shower inclosure. I installed all the finishes myself including dry wall wainscot and finish trim. I also built a great little built in niche to hold bathroom supplies etc. The client picked out fixtures from Italy and everything just came together beautifully. The client loves it and I love it.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I have been in the trades for over 20 years. I have a firm understanding for what is required to make a job happen in a timely matter and stay on budget. I work with excellent experienced licensed sub contractors. I am very trust worthy and have the highest regard for the client's interest.
