FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge for time spent with a student. My base rate is $50 per hour, plus extra for travel, if applicable. I typically give students who come to me a free diagnostic half hour session.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For long term clients, after the initial call, I meet face to face with the student. (Clearly, during these times of COVID 19, face to face meetings are not possible, and a sufficiently detailed call will substitute). Thereafter, we agree on content, time, fees and place. In my experience, both in the field of education and in the "real world" corporate setting, you exchange the most valuable information during the first meeting. Personality determines how we will interact going forward. Every student is unique and every session must be tailored.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a BSc and BComm, am a qualified actuary (FIAA) and more recently have acquired my MA Philosophy (2016.) But, being a straight-A graduate is a given in this field. What's more important is how much I care that the student really understands. Not every student can be a Fermat. But every student can be helped just that little bit more to achieve a lot more.
