Goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I listen deeply and with empathy. I do not push my clients like a drill sergeant; this can result in injury or quitting. Rather, I find a way for each client to find their edge and be smarter about their workout. She/he can learn more about what's needed by listening, and cultivating self-awareness! Yoga (creating mind/body awareness) is the key to building confidence in your daily life. It's great to see my clients become more joyful about their bodies. By developing good workout plans, keeping each client consistent, and giving her or him challenges with encouragment, we are able to see changes. I am a witness to your transformation! Being embodied, feeling great and coming into self acceptance are the residual effects of obtaining wellness. It doesn't go away when the session ends!

Bone spurs and scar tissue in my lower back make for a very vulnerable area, so I prefer an exercise class a professional instructor/trainer making sure my alignment is correct. I've taken yoga sessions with Patricia and her eye is steady, helpful and reassuring. She is a skilled practitioner who does not see yoga necessarily as a workout, but as a spiritual practice. It's easy to say this is how all yoga instruction should be, but it is not always easy to find someone who can get that across with compassion and a dedicated presence. She also has a good sense of humor and is willing to play which is always helpful during those occasional awkward moments of learning. She has a keen eye, is well read, and at the same time highly approachable to her students. All of these make for a layered, compassionate and individualized experience. In a daunting population of yoga instructors to choose from, Patricia stands out as an recommendation for beginning or experienced practitioners.

Patricia is the best yoga teacher I've ever had! She uses excellent verbal cues to instruct each student how to do each pose correctly, to pay attention to each breath, in and out, and the space in between that truly help me cultivate mindfulness while practising. She is very knowledgeable, supportive, kind, and pays great attention to each student. In a class, she takes time to get to know her students' names and any injuries or health issues a student might have coming into the class, She further supports students by coming around between poses to help students adjust and do the poses correctly. Most importantly, she takes time to show the correct way to do specific and/or new poses by explaining common errors and how to do the poses correctly. After each class, I always feel great, invigorated and yet calmer and relaxed. I highly recommend Patricia as a yoga teacher and personal trainer.

I had back surgery about ten years ago and never thought I would do yoga again. After working with Patricia one-on-one and learning the basics and nuances of the poses, I am now practicing yoga regularly and feeling great! Patricia compassionately encourages me to advance, and I am comfortable doing so as I know she always has my back...literally!

After many years of no exercise due to a back injury I was fortunate to find Patricia teaching Yoga at the YMCA. She always makes a point of learning about injuries or limitations of any new students before starting a class. Her teaching style will motivate and inspire anyone at any level. Attending her classes has given me a lust for life again!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It is very important that my new client and I have an opportunity to interview so that I can gage what is needed from past experiences. Background history is very important! We also discuss obstacles such as injuries, how to stay motivated, and how to work within time constraints. Most clients want a full-body workout. Most of us feel happier when we are stronger, and resilient. How can we make it fun, interesting and playful. After our consultation we begin a workout where I can assess my clients comfort or discomfort with certain movements/exercises. I can see my clients breathing pattern, where their form is solid or weak, and discover his/her strengths and observe how much body awareness is present. This is the time where adjustments in an original format are shifted to meet your needs. Each person is assessed with great care, keeping him/her safe while pushing their capacity. Clients usually decide on their own time if s/he would like to continue. If things feel right for both of us, a contract is signed.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am a Certified Yoga Instructor, AFAA Certified Personal Trainer, First Aid & CPR Certified, and I am a professional Wellness coach.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with many clients who have had injuries, or who are health seekers. Many of my clients want to feel more embodied, stronger, acquire more agility, and a greater sense of balance. This leads to a greater sense of play in their life! Using a combination of weight lifting with yoga gives a nice resiliency in their approach.
