We had the brilliant idea of getting a personal chef to prepare a dinner for my sister in law’s birthday but had no idea how to execute on it. Enter Mise En Place....what a great find that was. From start to finish, our experience was outstanding. Starting with our initial consultation with Dan, the owner, who was very accommodating in assisting us with choosing the menu to the day of with Chef Andrew and Victor, who prepared a 5 star dinner for us that was unforgettable. Chef Andrew clearly has a passion for cooking and attention to detail that shows through every dish. The goal of the evening was to make my sister in law feel very special and celebrated for her birthday...and because of the meal prepared by Chef Andrew and Victor, that goal was accomplished. Superb. Not only the elegant meal, but brilliant in the way in the chef communicates with the client. I appreciated that I was involved in every decision (this is what I wanted). Large plated dinner party for 20 guests. Chef accommodated every dietary restriction. What makes Mise En Place great is not just how delicious and innovative the food is, but how they really love to cook for people. They made it fun. It was an honor to work with this crew of chefs. The food and experience with the Mis En Place team could not have been better. No contest! Dan helped me curate a menu that fit the varied palates of our crew and was light yet fulfilling- a request to end a packed day of wine tasting. The entire group of 8 of us were blown away by the taste, quality and presentation of the food. The chopped salad was unforgettable- salad memorable? YES! I want that dressing recipe. The chicken was moist and savory with perfectly crisped skin. The charred broccolini and fingerling potatoes slow roasted in duck fat, bomb!! And wow- the lemon grapefruit tart was so Tasty. It was perfectly tart and not too sweet- the ultimate pleaser to end an outstanding meal. Jonathan was our chef and he was an executional genius. He not only brought the menu to life, but he was meticulous in the preparation and service. I saw him checking the temperature of the chicken frequently and with attentive precision, hence the exceptional result. He arrived on time, was dressed like the professional chef he is, had all of his ingredients neatly arranged, having been prepared and measured beforehand, accommodated our small chat as we moved in and out of the kitchen (albeit on the wined up side) without missing his own beat, served us graciously, and left the kitchen immaculately cleaned when the meal was complete. He’s the real deal! This meal was unforgettable and I wil not hesitate to use Mis En Place for my future catering and culinary needs. Thanks Jonathan and Dan!
