- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I struggled greatly with my own fitness journey. I could never seem to lose weight or keep it off, despite doing hours of cardio each week. I discovered weightlifting when I was 19 and just focused on getting strong and hitting performance goals, and low and behold, my body composition finally started to change and I finally felt confident in my own body. Nutrition was still a mess as I had suffered from a binge eating disorder since I was 12, and didn't fully resolve this until I was 26 years old. When I finally healed my relationship with food and stopped restricting foods from my diet and focused on a more balanced approach, it was nothing short of life changing for my mental health, as well as my body composition goals. After that I became certified in nutrition coaching with the hope that I could help others improve their relationship with food as well as feel confident that they are eating what their body actually needs to support their goals. I love empowering others through resistance training to feel strong, energetic and confident in their body. I have suffering multiple injuries through car/bike accidents throughout the years so I know what it is like to lose function of the movement others take for granted, which is why I became a Certified Corrective Exercise Specialist as well so that I could help others rehabilitate their bodies and prevent injuries in order to move pain free during their daily lives. I am very supportive of all my clients and celebrate every small win you have, because I know first hand how hard it is to show up for yourself and make those changes.
