“I came to Sina Advisory Group with a paragraph describing my approach. I left Sina Advisory Group with a business, brand, and an impressive website. They helped me with designing my logo, mobile website, a working SEO strategy, the concept and developing my website and creating a social media presence. From the start to the finish line, Sina Advisory Group’s professionalism and skills made the process very seamless. I know that the next time I have an idea, I have to talk to Sina Advisory Group to transform that idea to a stable business.” Ray Kavandi, Universal Construction Management

One World was extremely helpful with the iOS development of our latest mobile app. Their ability to over communicate and complete transparency throughout our project made our experience a memorable one. We will definitely use them again for our Android build! Shout out to our project manager Shawn for all his help!

The process of finding the right web developer/designer is not an easy task. Our company interviewed many prospects and found either they were way over our budget or not experienced enough to create a solid website for us. We needed a team that were well verse not only in design and user interface but also coding. We came across Technigami through a referral and decided to go with them based on their professionalism, skills, creativity, and responsiveness. We received a detailed proposal about the project. They also gave us tips on how to improve our business through online presence in social media, customer retention, analytics, the whole deal. We needed a launch page ready in a very short period of time prior to the completion of the website. They were able to implement the page on our website right a way. They were able to deliver far above what we expected and very responsive to our needs and concerns. We like their work so much we decided to have their team of developers help us build a software to manage our inventory and manufacturing process. We highly recommend Technigami. Thank you for your awesome work!

I owned a small design firm and both me and my team wore many hats. Maurice was hired as a production manager/account executive to one of our very large corporate clients. His attention to detail and juggling many moving parts all at once, was bar none. He worked on many projects as account executive and always came through with great success for both the client and my business. So many times the client re-directed us within the middle of the process regarding content within direct mail/catalog pieces. Maurice's can do attitude was refreshing to work with. He would research, re-work, slice and and dice and deliver content/information to our design team without hesitation and always with a smile. I could always count on Maurice for a successful outcome, even with cut throat deadlines. I'm convinced there's nothing Maurice can't accomplish within the project management/executive assistant role. My business is closed now, but I hope I have the privilege of working with Maurice again in the near future.

As a seasoned Creative professional, I have worked with many Project Managers over the years, but Mitchell is by far my favorite. He has all of the traits a strong Project Manager has: meticulously organized, accountable, responsible, reliable...but it is something beyond the normal Project Manager traits that make Mitchel extraordinary. His calm demeanor can diffuse the tightest timeline and brings clarity to even the muddiest key objective. He respects the individual, and somehow understands how to manage different people, different teams and departments to bring about breakthrough results. Mitchell consistently strives for excellence...and surpasses it. And he does all of this with an easy, friendly smile. I cannot recommend Mitchell highly enough.

Derrick was a fantastic app developer and I would highly recommend him for other projects. He is very responsive and skilled as an iPhone app developer, producing apps that have the full agreed-upon functionality - Facebook login / friends interaction, database management, saving/loading pictures, both table view and custom screen outputs, various different input fields, etc. Derrick has been a pleasure to work with.

Our company, Kaymbu, used FocalShift for six months and we couldn't he happier with the results. We had one primary iPad application that was in a state of distress, extremely buggy, error prone, and "monsters under the bed". Terry and Bennett came into the project and immediately took control of our iOS process. They not only came in and helped stabilize our application code, they also provided valuable iOS experience and technical leadership throughout the entire engagement. We couldn't be happier with the work Focalshift has done for our company, and we'd highly recommend them to anyone looking to build or enhance their mobile presence.

I had a web site built to help promote my business. Once the site was live the web developer was gone and I could not understand how to do anything. Yotham came in and helped me to get things under control. The CMS system he developed helps me manage all of my content. - Sa Rj

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a good app developer?

A good app developer can help you if your company wants to build a new mobile app for customers but you don’t have an IT or development team on staff. First, decide whether you want an app made for the iPhone or Android phones or both, then start your search by finding an app developer with expertise in your chosen platform. Ask for samples of their work, such as code samples, that can be tested on open source repository sites like GitLab and GitHub. You can also interview firms that specialize in mobile app development for small companies or startups; they should be able to offer examples of different types of apps they’ve built, and are likely to have expertise in a range of technologies and platforms. Before you sign a contract, make sure to ask prospective app developers these questions:

    • What other apps have you developed? Make sure the apps in their portfolio reflect the type of work you want to have done for your company. It’s especially helpful if they understand your industry.
    • What technology and development services do you offer? Ideally, an app developer will conduct a business analysis, develop the app, perform quality testing and make sure the launch is successful.

Will you maintain the app after it’s launched? Releasing an app is only the beginning. You’ll need someone to maintain it too, releasing updates and fixing bugs.

    Who builds apps?

Apps are usually built by software developers who specialize in mobile software. They may be experts in just one mobile software development language or know several, and may have expertise in front-end or back-end web development. No matter what kind of phone or tablet you carry, there are hundreds of apps for it — and new ones seem to be added to the app stores every day. Before you hire an app developer, it’s important to have specific goals for your app and a clear idea of its purpose. When your company is ready to build an app, you can hire a freelance app developer or work with an app development company that can also support the app after it’s launched. It’s important to know whether you’ll need the developer to provide ongoing maintenance and support or if your internal IT team can maintain it after its launch.

How much does it cost to hire an app developer?

Software development is a serious investment for any company, costing thousands of dollars for even basic apps. It’s tough to estimate costs because there are so many variables to each project: user requirements, feature set, complexity, size, etc. Mobile apps can cost from $20,000 to more than $100,000, depending on what you need the app to do. The average national cost of an app developer is $237.50 per hour, but prices vary widely depending on location, type of app, features, and much, much more.

To get a sense of what hiring an app developer might cost, decide first what kind of software you need. In general, app developers charge hourly fees based on the language they’ll use to code the software. Freelancers cost less than large software development firms, typically charging an average of:

    • Basic C development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • Front-end web development: $50-$75 per hour.
    • Back-end web development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • API development: $75-$150 per hour.
    • Desktop app development: $30-$100 per hour.
    • Mobile app development: $30-$150 per hour.

Larger software vendors charge much more, often as much as $300 to $400 per hour.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
