Prepare the area, demolishing the existing surface down 10 to 12 inches for driveways and 7 to 9 inches for walkways, pool decks, patios and haul away all concrete / asphalt and soil. Then, compact the sub soil and lay a geotextile Mirafi 500X a woven geotextile comprised of UV stabilized polypropylene slit film, this will stay on the subsoil.
Install 7 to 9 inches of crushed base rock class 2 (recycled) for driveways and 4 to 6 inches for patios, pool decks and walkways. After all leveling has been done a compaction throughout the entire area will follow using a vibratory plate until we get a firm, solid base rock foundation. The same technique is also used on pool decks, walkways and patios,.
After the base rock is leveled and compacted will screed a layer of topping sand.
Paving stones are placed by hand on the screeded bedding sand to ensure a perfect fit.
Saw cut the paver edging and build concrete beams with 1/2" rebars for driveways, placing the paving stones on the wet concrete.
Clean area and sweep polymeric sand or over the paving stones. Use the vibratory plate the surface to ensure sand is all the way down the pavers joints. This completes the permanent interlocking process locking all the stones in place.
