Cam showed up claiming he knew how to fix hot tubs. The first thing he did was try to turn it on, realize it wouldn’t power up, and then start wandering around my house and garage looking for a fuse box. When he couldn’t figure it out, he admitted he needed to go home and search online to see what the problem might be — something a real hot tub repair tech shouldn’t need to do. He later returned and said he’d just drain and clean the tub for now and “figure out the issue later.” We agreed on $200 to clean the hot tub and repair the heater element. The next day, he arrived late, brought cleaning solution (handed me the receipt while saying “I’m not asking you to pay this”), unplugged the tub to drain it, and only scrubbed part of the side before leaving again — saying he’d come back the following day once it finished draining. Then, despite the job being incomplete and nowhere near half done, he texted me asking for half the payment upfront. The next day, he pushed the time again and said he’d come at 6 pm. By that point, I had already hired a licensed technician who diagnosed the issue immediately — it wasn’t the heater element at all, it was the cord. That tech also pointed out that Cam planned to reuse an old dirty filter rather than install a proper replacement. When I told Cam not to return, I still offered to reimburse him fairly: $30 for the cleaning solution he bought (even though he didn’t use it) and $20 for his time. That’s $50 total for showing up and doing very little actual work. Instead of accepting this reasonable offer, he insists on $80. This has been my third experience with someone from this app who clearly had no real knowledge of what they were doing and seemed more interested in quick money than actually fixing the problem. Save yourself the frustration and hire a licensed technician from the start.

Did not notify me of his cancelation until I messaged him multiple times to confirm our scheduled appointment, a couple hours before we were supposed to meet. Very inconvenient especially since we had somewhat of a difficult time trying to schedule a day that would work for the both of us in the first place.
