Greetings, I am a chef, craft bartender and event curator working in the hospitality industry since I was old enough to get a workers permit. 30 years later I have been recognized in Edible Monterey for my culinary and libation creations at my current business. I have a background in classic French technique but currently run a kitchen in a gastropub type setting. I was a seamstress with a boutique in Los Angeles but ultimately wanted to cook for a living. I am an artistic person by nature and love to create memories and environments people love. I have also curated art shows and music events for many years. Ambiance is everything. I cannot say enough positive things about Tawni! I reached out with very little notice for a dinner for my husband and she knocked it out of the park! She recreated a dessert from our trip to Paris, and made dishes that honored my husband's heritage. She is creative, friendly, and a fantastic chef.

Overall, I really enjoyed working with Tawni during the planning process. She was highly responsive, flexible to our needs, and came up with great ideas for food and drinks. My guests were very happy with everything she prepared, and the presentation and flavors were lovely. However, there were a couple of issues that dampened the experience. We had spent $500 on guest gift bags that Tawni was supposed to drop off at our reception venue after catering our event. I paid the invoice and Tawni left my house. I believed this would be a simple delivery, but after leaving my house, she called to tell me that the restaurant turned her away. I found out the bags still needed to be assembled, and she needed a large workspace to do so. The restaurant couldn’t accommodate that since they were open for brunch service. I asked her to assemble the bags at an Airbnb just a half mile away where my parents were staying. That’s when she told she had another event to go to, implying that couldn’t complete the job. Convenient after I just paid the invoice! I convinced her to complete the job, which I shouldn’t have to do. She ultimately agreed, which I appreciated. But the situation caused unnecessary stress for me, a bride 2 hours before her ceremony. We ended up not being able to bring the bags to the reception at all. Sadly, the gift bags never made it to our guests. I later noticed that the muffins used in the bags appeared to be identical to the small pumpkin muffins sold at Whole Foods. They also stayed moist for more than 1 week, which made me suspect they might have been store-bought rather than freshly made. See attached photo of her packaged muffin next to the Whole Foods muffins. I genuinely appreciated Tawni’s responsiveness and the quality of the main catering, but the handling of the gift bags and questions around the baked goods left me disappointed after what was otherwise a great collaboration.
