My work is unique in that each design in almost always an original work of art. I rarely work out of a book, except to reference my abilities, but am also able to duplicate, and sometimes enhance artwork that a client brings specifically. I also take time to explain the process with them, and to consult on designs that will most reflect the essence of their celebration.
I love being able to be creative and bring joy. Henna is always associate with happiness, and it is an honor to come into people's lives and create with them unique memories. Henna is such a relaxing and grounding art form, it really is beneficial to all parties.

A wonderful henna artist whose level of creativity is matched by her intuitiveness and grace. Her ability to take the mundane and transform it into the sacred is astounding!!!! Sought after by many for her services, her reputation remains unchallenged. She is the only henna artist I would even consider using for my personal initiations, transitions, and celebrations of life.

While there were some communication issues at the beginning (some were due to my phone) when we did communicate, she was rapid about finding out what it is that I wanted and trying to meet that to the best of her ability. I appreciated Rica's "realness" and how open and transparent she was. She told us about how she is trying to support her daughter and how proud she is of her. At the same time, it didn't come off as professional when after the performance she described to the birthday girl (singing telegram recipient) that it was her first time singing for pay for anyone and that she grabbed her flowers from a nearby bush. Had I known she was going to do that, I would have bought them myself (which I offered) especially since the flowers were so small. The birthday girl (my supervisor) and my co-workers could have been better off not knowing this information about how Rica managed to pull off this gig. It's like the old saying which I hate but feel is true, "fake it 'til you make it." I also felt like a costume that was a flowerly bright color would've been better. At the same time, I realize I didn't give her much time after I decided to go with her for the gig. At the same time, I did reach out a week earlier (after her initial ThumbTack response) and I asked for an actual quote with an amount in it which I didn't receive.
All in all, it worked out. I get that singing telegrams are inherently awkward and fun. It was my first time too and I wanted that type of experience for my boss. I am glad that Rica was able to fulfill her new calling "to sing." I would just say that next time, she can keep the secrets to her trade to herself, no one needs to know how she did it, just that she did. Letting people (your audience) in on those details can diminish the performance when you are first starting out/getting established. In any case, my boss was moved and cried a little in public and laughed during the performance so that was good.

I have hired Rica to do henna tattoos at two parties: a ladies' night out and a teenage girls' birthday celebration. She is delightful, talented, timely, and reasonably priced. I recommend her highly.
