I teach mathematics through the direct perception of mathematical truth—helping students SEE why mathematics is true, rather than merely memorizing formulas and procedures.
I have spent 20 years teaching mathematics and physics and more than 8,000 hours working directly with students. I have a degree in physics, began programming professionally at Microsoft while still in high school, and founded a national tutoring agency that employed more than 250 mathematics and science educators.

I especially enjoy working with advanced students taking challenging mathematics and physics courses, including AP and college-level classes. I also work with students at every level, including students building their foundations in Algebra and Geometry.
Gentleness and kindness are central to my teaching. I create a safe place to learn, ask questions, make mistakes, and develop confidence. I work especially well with sensitive students and students who have become scared of mathematics or had painful experiences with it.
At the same time, I am exceptionally comfortable in challenging situations—with gifted and advanced students, demanding coursework, and students who need a teacher capable of meeting them at a very high level.

EXCEPTIONAL ONLINE TEACHING
I teach exclusively online, with students from around the world. After many years of teaching, I have found online teaching to be by far the most powerful and efficient way for me to work with students.
Visualization is central to how I teach. During a session, I can create custom, bespoke visualizations in the moment, specifically tailored to the student, the mathematics we are exploring, and the particular insight they need to see.
I do this through Desmos, interactive mathematical tools, and my own software. I have also created an extensive catalog of original mathematical software, animations, and visualizations that allow students to see and explore mathematics directly.
Online teaching gives me an extraordinary visual environment in which to teach, and allows me to work with students anywhere in the world. Its efficiency also allows me to offer my work at the greatly reduced rates below.
