Piano With Joy

Introduction: I offer fun, private piano lessons for children ages 5 and up in NE Portland with a free trial lesson! I am a very dedicated piano teacher with lots of energy and enthusiasm, and years of experience teaching music to children! I have a music degree from the University of Washington in Seattle, and I have been teaching piano and running my own studio now for 10 years. I absolutely love what I do, and I am currently accepting students of all ages and ability levels, but I specialize in working with kids, which is my passion! I keep my piano studio small so that I can do a high-quality job with each student. I care a lot about my students, and it's very important to me that I foster a positive, warm and encouraging teaching environment. I customize all of my piano lessons to meet each individual student's personal needs in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. I teach music in all styles (classical, jazz and pop) and lessons can also include ear training, songwriting, and theory as well, if desired. Students get to utilize my home recording studio to make a CD of their music. Recording is beneficial because it allows students to hear their progress over months and years! I also have them record a CD around the holidays, as it makes a great family gift! I hold recitals twice a year at a local retirement home in Portland. This works great, the residence love it, and the kids get to perform and do community service at the same time! I only have a very limited number of slots as my focus is on high-quality lessons. I teach out of my home studio in Portland's Irvington neighborhood.
