- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always had a love of fine food, and my love of fine drinks seemed to naturally grow from that while I was in school in Cincinnati. One of my best friends became a bartender, and listening to him talk about drinks and making some for me inspired me to become one as well. When I later received an offer from Amazon for a bartending class, it pushed me over the edge and I decided that I wanted to pursue bartending. I also believe that my love of fine drinks is no accident. I never got the chance to meet my grandfather, but my mother and her sisters would tell stories about him. In particular, he would often make himself a mixed drink at dinner to unwind from the day, and his preference of drinks is similar to mine. I have one of his jiggers in my bar kit. He was also an amateur pianist and clarinetist, and I know that I am a professional clarinetist indirectly because of him. I am pursuing two careers that my grandfather enjoyed as pastimes and it makes me happy to have inherited some of his traits.
