Steven A Hoffman

Introduction: I have been teaching the electric and double bass for 20 years at Stanroy Music Co. in Santa Rosa, CA. Many of my students have gone on to study at world-class universities and played in world-class touring acts. I have authored two bass instruction books with Hal Leonard. I can teach many of the different styles, including rock, jazz, funk, metal on the electric bass, and classical and jazz on the double bass. I also teach many different techniques, including slapping, tapping, reading, theory, scale study, song study on the electric bass, and German bow technique and classical repertoire on the double bass. I perform in many different groups around the Bay area playing numerous styles, including symphony, opera, rock/metal bands, theater, and jazz combos. I am a very patient teacher who really fosters a positive outlook and is flexible with the student's needs. I have a B.A. in music from UC Berkeley. I have also studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
