About this pro

Hello! I sing, perform & teach in fluent English, Spanish, & Portuguese. Also sing & write in 5 languages in a touring band, DyaTribal, with Hindi fusion music from Blues to Brazil. Grateful to have studied with master musicians, drummers, & dancers around the world for the past 20 years & will share a multi-cultural approach to learning music with you. Honored to have won cash awards for singing, performing & songwriting & am happy to share anything I've learned from those experiences to meet your musical goals. Although, I've been studying music since piano at age six, my degree in psychology integrates the body, which is a source of power during artistic expression. Music is energy being expressed through the body. Master musicians know how to stay relaxed & egoless enough to allow that energy to course through them while they are playing. I will help you find your creative edges and ride through them to surprise yourself. I love it when my students have breakthroughs & watching them light up as they unwind from their inner critic and begin to feel more deeply into their expression of music. If I can be witness to that or facilitate this unfolding, I feel joy. I create an environment where this level of trust can occur.

    Q & A

    • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$60 for one hour lessons: Most popular and best deal with sufficient time for you. $49 for 1 hour Skype lessons: deborah.frank1 $45 for 45 min lessons: good mid range. $35 for half hour lessons: for busy people & starving artists. Group rates & some sliding scale available. Just ask! Our DyaTribal band rates vary based on event & addition of tribal dancers. Call with invitations to play!
    • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I ask if you have any questions, make you laugh a bit, introduce myself, make you feel comfortable. We do a quick tour of the studio. I show you some vocal warm ups if it's a voice lesson. Then I give you a copy of the warm ups for you to practice to save you time & money. Then we sing together so you feel supported! I check your range so you know which notes are comfortable for you to sing so that we can choose some songs for next time that you love!
    • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes! My best teachers taught me to be a life long learner. Every summer I attend two weeks of Brazilian Music Camp and study with master drummers, dancers, vocalists & musicians. Had the great pleasure of studying songwriting with Michael Pattison & other faculty at Berklee College of Music. Have been a longtime member of West Coast Songwriters. I attend weekly percussion & dance classes in West African, Middle Eastern, Brazilian, & Latino performance communities. Our band, DyaTribal rehearses & performs weekly. I write songs regularly & read journals on entrepreneurship in the music & teaching fields.
