Counseling goals
Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: Counseling and coaching might look like they're the same but they have different rules, purposes, skills and structures. Much like in sports coaching, the client can see the goal, and with a sideline spot, the coach can offer a whole field perspective of the plays as they are happening as well as give feedback on what they observe with regard to technique, strategy, and form. Coaching is not a therapy. Coaching views clients as creative, resourceful, and whole. The client is the expert at his/her own life and sets his/her own agenda and goals. Working together, the coaching relationship empowers the client, builds awareness, deepens learning, and allows the client to take effective action toward their goals and visions. What I personally bring to my coaching clients is my keen sense of observation (which some people may refer to as intuition), my curiosity, integrity, passion, and heart, all in support of you. I often mix in a bit of consulting, offering information or resources that might help further your goals. Having completed both a master's degree in counseling and intensive coaches training with the Coaches Training Institute, I would say that there is a tremendous overlap in theory and practice between the two. My style of coaching employs a mix of coaching practices using the best strategies, in my opinion, from positive psychology, solution-focused Adlerian and Rogerian approaches of counseling.
