I measure twice and cut once! I am a seasoned bathroom contractor with over 40 years experience and have been licensed since 1993. I offer quality a-z bathroom remodeling. I can do everything from electrical, plumbing, tile, cabinets, counter tops, tub to shower conversions; If it has to do with bathrooms you name it and I can do it. In addition, moving walls and plumbing can be done all up to code. I possess complete tools, and am very resourceful. I do all the work on my own with maybe a helper or two. I needed a through-the-wall air conditioner replaced. Already had hole in wall that needed to be enlarged, then a/c install. James arrived on time and set down tarps to prevent damage/be clean. He ran into some difficulties with the project, but worked it all out. His price was fair and I'm pleased with the result. I would hire him again.

It started off as a simple job, pull some vinyl that was separating from the subfloor in a very small bathroom and replace it with ceramic tile. The job was scheduled to take a day and a half (a good portion of that time is waiting for the tile to set) but as soon as James pulled the vinyl back there was a homeowner's worst nightmare, mold from a leaky toilet. James then worked tirelessly for the next four and a half days removing all the damaged subfloor, the cast iron plumbing that had rotted out, the floor joists and tearing the bathroom down to dirt. When he rebuilt it he added more floor joists to support the floor and concrete board over the new subfloor as well as tar paper to seal the whole thing. It's the most stable floor in the house. James worked tirelessly, he was at the jobsite at least 8+ hours a day, plus purchasing materials and dumping the waste at night. When it finally came time to lay the tile and James brought a helper in. The tile looks fantastic and I am happy to know that there is no more mold hidden in the floor. James left the jobsite clean and clear at the end of each day and at the end of the project, some contractors rush that part of the job. The rates were more than reasonable considering the hidden damage and repairs that had to be done. He even put up with my mom watching him and asking a million questions. We are very pleased with the quality of the work.

We received information that our shower would require some updating due the deteriorating nature of its foundation. The tile was also very old and not cosmetically pleasing. So we took this as an opportunity to update the shower and its tile, and also replace the old vanity and mirror. Not a huge job, but certainly a tedious one due to the install of the tile. We received quotations from other contractors; however we decided to go with James at Jamestown Design in the end. Pricing was on par with the other quotes received. Lead time of the project was also equal to what the other contractors had projected. What lead us to our final decision? James gave us a level of confidence, which the other contractors could not match, ensuring that the job would be done to our expectations 100%. The demo of the old shower went flawless. James carefully prepared the surrounding areas by laying down covers over everything, and even including the floor to reduce the amount of debris caused by the demolition. James showed up on time every day and left as quietly as he arrived. Every day he made sure that all of his tools, or whatever that was required for the job, was organized and off to the side & out of the way. As with any job unexpected issues can and will arise. More specifically, there was Black Mold found on one of the walls behind the shower. James brought this to our attention and recommended that we take care of this prior to completing the shower. He priced out the repair accordingly and with our approval he took care of it. James did not suggest anything that was unnecessary – This was certainly appreciated. Our bathroom and shower came out exactly how we wanted. The tile looks amazing and the quality of work is nothing short of exceptional. Apparently James does it all! He also was very helpful when it came to installing new doors in each of the rooms to our house. James is a great honest guy who does great work. We would certainly recommend James to any of our friends/family…And would most certainly have him do another project in our home when that time comes. Look no further than Jamestown Design.

This was a very difficult project that required great skill in removing an old cast iron sink that was mounted under a granite countertop without breaking the granite. James tackled the job with confidence and took every precaution to ensure the integrity of the granite countertop. The old sink was successfully removed and a new sink installed with countertop intact. James did a great job for a very fair price and was a pleasure to work with. I plan on using James for my next project.
