FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am Vice President of the Interior Design Society (IDS) - L.A.-Ventura chapter, & ASID, both which offer ongoing educational opportunities & which I attend regularly. Later this year I expect to be offering free seminars to the public on topics such as how to choose paint & your color personality, & guidelines for improving the layout of a living space.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I suppose you could say it was serendipity. I had been decorating for years out of a love for it but not as a career until I made the spontaneous decision to follow my heart, & left a successful career as an entertainment & music attorney behind.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Consider whether your needs, budget & what the designer has to offer/likes to do are a fit. Especially If it is a small project don't expect a designer to invest considerable travel time without being compensated for it. Few designers if any are for everyone. Also have a phone conversation to see if you 'click', & whether your schedules are compatible. Many designers do not work nights or weekends & sometimes customers who work 'typical' weekday hours are not willing to take work time to meet with a designer. I make evening & weekend appointments.the exception, not the rule.
