We got a rescue puppy. While adorable, she's got many of the behavior issues rescue dogs may come with, especially destructive anxiety. I've trained dogs before, and this dog has made me run out of ideas. Amy has consulted with me many times on ways to reduce her anxiety and help her with everything from getting the hang of potty training to not nipping at the kids. She has always tried her hardest and done her best. All with positive reinforcement methods too! She's taken on tough cases and doesn't give up. She's great at coaching owners too so we can genuinely help the dog. If you're not working with Amy, you don't have the best - yet! Give her a hollar!

Tabitha is a great pet sitter. She is responsible, trust worthy and my dog is completely in love with her. My dog sees her and just starts crying she is so happy to see her. Anyone would be lucky to have a pet sitter who is a loving and caring as Tabitha is

I am not really a business, I just love animals! What a great job; walking dogs and taking care of them. I've had pets before, a St. Bernard and a Border Collie; therefore, I do have some experience handling dogs. I was browsing to find employment, and I found this! What an opportunity!

I think my work stands out more because I think word-of-mouth is very important. I want to be recognized for a good worker. I love to do exercise and I'm also a pet lover I enjoy doing both I have a dog myself she's my best friend.

Walking and jogging with dogs is a daily activity for me. I spend a few hours each day with a few selected dogs. I am available if you need someone to pet sit while you’re away from your best friend.

Run Dog Run is owned and operated by an experienced veterinary technician with a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. We are licensed and insured. Run Dog Run is on a mission to provide all of the dogs on the Monterey Peninsula a chance to run. I will design an exercise program that is catered specifically to your pet’s needs. There are unlimited options available, from a 15-minute walk to a 60-minute run. Does your furry friend prefer a beach or mountain setting? The choice is yours. Not only will your pet receive an exercise routine created specifically for him/her, but he/she can also take advantage of my pet sitting services. I also offer convenient medication administration, nail trims, anal gland expression, and so much more!

I am a professional dog walker with over 30 years of experience. I've owned over 10 dogs during my lifetime and have gained great experience on walking, training and caring for them. I have super accessible rates for the busy executives that want to make sure their babies will be in safe, trustworthy and knowledgeable hands and not some inexperienced kid that would probably let go of the leash in a moment of panic or distraction.

I own two Labrador retrievers. One is a golden American female who is a year and a half. The other is a black American male who is 6 months old. I love dogs, and I love walking and exercising them. I think everyone should own a dog. I am willing to walk your dogs and exercise them as well as feed/give them any medication they might need.

I have a deep connection with dogs that no one else has, I can tell when they are hurt, happy, anxious, nervous etc. What I like most about what I do is I make a difference in the dogs life as well as its owner.

I don't just see my furry clients as a means to and end. Each dog that I meet and work with is a special individual to me. Every experience is different and a chance to learn more with each dog I meet.

I walk dogs of any type. Breed, age and size don't matter; your dogs will be in great hands with me. Talk to me about prices.

I like animals, especially dogs. I also have worked with dogs before in a training program. I helped dog named Bobby with uneven-sized legs get trained and later, adopted. I am a certified junior dog trainer.

I have over 20 years of hands on experience in the classroom or in educational administration. I have been trained to work with non-traditional learners, specifically dyslexic learners in the Orton-Gillingham method of teaching. I have two undergaduate degrees (the first in English and Psychology, and the second in Kinesiology with a focus in Adapted Physical Education), and I am currently working on my Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing. I love working with children and adolescents and adults. I love to see the "light bulb" turn on!

A tired dog is a good dog! Our caring staff have many years of experience in pet sitting and in the veterinary field. We offer on-leash pack hikes in Santa Clara County's beautiful parks. We also offer full-service drop-in and overnight pet and ranch sitting for all animals.

I am a dog walker/caretaker who will travel to pets. I work on bathing, flea dip, grooming and boarding services. I am available by appointment only.

I love animals & enjoy taking care of them! I also clean houses on my free time. I take pride in what I do & enjoy seeing the satisfaction on my clients faces! Being around animals all the time is one of the biggest joys of my life!!

We customize our services to fit the individual and unique needs for each client. Are you going on vacation? Out of town on business? Just want to hit the city for the night or catch a baseball game? Call Monterey Pet Care for reliable, year-round professional pet sitting for your cats, dogs, fish and other pets. Basic house sitting services included. It would be nice if everyone could take their dogs to work or to have the time and physical ability to take them out for that much needed mid-day break. We understand that's not always possible, so call Monterey Pet Care because we walk the walk! Don't take it from me; see what one of our happy clients has to say: "When my dog sitting arrangements fell through at the last minute, Dan stepped up to care for Chuckie, my recently adopted shelter dog. Chuckie can be a little timid around new people, but he warmed right up to Dan's caring nature. Dan took such excellent care of Chuckie, walking him daily, providing companionship, and ensuring all his needs were met. He was very professional and reliable. I was able to relax and enjoy my vacation knowing Chuckie was in good hands. Chuckie was so taken with Dan; I've since hired him to walk him weekly. If you are looking for a caring, professional, and trustworthy pet sitter or dog walker, look no further than Monterey Pet Care!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a dog walker do?

We all know our dogs love going on long, adventure-filled walks, but jobs and family and commuting can make it difficult to give them the leash time they deserve. You can hire a professional dog walker to make sure your furry friend gets adequate exercise and outdoor time each day. A professional dog walker may be an individual contractor or work for a dedicated dog-walking company. In either case, you want to make sure the pro has the appropriate insurance in case of an emergency. Some people opt to give the dog walker a key to their house; others to have them pick up the dog from the yard. Dog walking can happen as often as multiple times per day, or just a few times a month as needed. Here are some questions to ask when you are interviewing a new dog walker:

  • Will you or someone else be walking my dog?
  • Do you have a backup plan if you can’t make it for a scheduled walk?
  • Will you walk my dog by itself, or do you walk several dogs at once?
  • What are your different walk routes?
  • When will you pick up and drop off?
  • How will we communicate?
  • Do I have to commit to a schedule or are you flexible?
  • What’s your cancellation policy?
  • What’s your response plan if my dog gets injured or becomes sick?
  • How and how often do I pay you?
  • Do you offer package pricing if I buy multiple dog walks up front?

How much do dog walkers charge?

The cost of dog walking depends on several factors including length and frequency of dog walks, the number of dogs on the walk, distance to your house, and any additional services you request. The national average cost range for a dog walk is $10-$20, but that price will vary based on where you live in the country and the regional cost of living and doing business.

The longer the dog walk, the higher your costs will be. Dog walkers offer a range of walk lengths, from 15-minute potty breaks to long hikes of 120 minutes or more. For example, a dog walker may charge $15 for a 15-minute walk and $35 for a 35-minute walk. Requesting that your dog be the only animal on the walk will typically mean a higher cost than if you permit your dog to be walked in a pack of dogs. You may be able to get a discounted rate if you have more than one dog to be walked. For example, a professional dog walker may charge $28 for one dog or $33 for two dogs on a 60-minute walk. If you need additional help — like feeding the dogs or giving them medication — dog walkers may be able to provide this service at an additional fee. Dog walkers may charge higher rates for walking your dogs on holidays.
