FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am in contact with a lot of business owners and leaders of my field. We frequently discuss new ideas and ways to improve our businesses. As far as technique goes there is little left for me to learn, the new developments are mostly how to reach clientel and build a customer base. Customer service remains to be one of the most important aspects of our business and it's what makes the great stand out from the good.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
10 years ago almost exactly I began the study of moving. My best friends father was a mover, and a good one. During the summer of my 18th birthday i went on the road traveling the continental U.S. thinking I was just going to have a summer job. That couldn't have been further from the truth. As summer ended my abilities had increased drastically, as my friends father would say" You're a natural". I stayed on the road for 2 years straight and eventually moved out on my own seeking a more stable lifestyle of sleeping in my own bed every night. 10 years later I'm still doing the same job I fell in love with as a young adult. Still learning new trade secrets and new techniques everyday. This business never gets old, new people, new places. Something different everyday, new challenges keep the excitement alive.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Our most common types of jobs would include household moves where there is either stairs or large furniture involved. In these tumultuous times the consumer is trying to save money wherever possible. Especially when unforseen circumstances lead to an unexpected move. They aren't calling a major Van Line to come out and charge an rediculous amount of money. They are renting the trucck themselves and then hiring the same level of a professional for a fraction of the price. Emergency moves have become frequent as sometimes people are given very short notice to leave a property .
