Melinda cared for our menagerie (rambunctious dog, 2 cats (one that needed meds), a parrot, fish, tortoises and chickens) for a few days over the holiday. I cannot express how her attention to detail and forethought eased my mind as we left. Then the excellent communication and texted pictures of our critters while we were gone was a constant reassurance. I recommend her without hesitation for any of your pet sitting needs!Dec 29, 2018VerifiedStay and Play Pet Sitting's reply
Thank you so much for writing this review. It was a pleasure caring for your pets and home and I hope to do it again in the future.
We have had Melinda care for our older and special needs dogs. We feel much more comfortable with her staying at our home so our dogs get undivided 24 hr care. Our dogs require medication on a regular basis and we can count on her to do this without any concern. As our oldest setter is 13, her day to day needs can change and Melinda is aware of this and will make sure she gets the needed help and attention. We would never be able to leave our dogs without this great care. Also, we have asked Melinda to come in the evenings to walk our younger dog. She will also come for a 2-3 hour pet sitting need. She keeps us informed about our dogs and sends pictures. She also does extra things like watering plants, dishes and things we don’t really expect but it sure is nice! I would recommend Melinda, you will have peace of mind when you are away.Aug 23, 2018Stay and Play Pet Sitting's reply
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a wonderfully detailed review! I love caring for Jinks, Jasper, and Bunny!
When I first read Melinda's profile, I knew I would love her, she was everything I was looking for in a person to care for my beloved fur-babies while my husband and I took a 9-day vacation. She lives in Temecula, and thought she's "too far" to consider a job in Mission Viejo but I felt compelled to drop her a note saying I wished we lived closer because she's everything I'm needed. She wrote back and said for the right situation, an exception could be made. She drove to our home to meet us, and we all loved her, and put down our deposit! Weeks before our vacation began, we had an emergency and had to shift dates, and Melinda was able to accommodate. Two weeks before her stay began, our little Lucy (a Chiweenie) was battling "kennel cough" and I had hoped she'd be better before Melinda's stay, but she wasn't, and Melinda took such great care of her, giving her the medication and researching for other homeopathy methods and left us with detailed handwritten notes on her findings. During our trip, Melinda sent us daily updates, including photos and videos, and status messages about other updates. I was thrilled that Lucy DID get better by the time we got home. Melinda also did a great job with our very opinionated spoiled princess Puggle named Xena (she is a warrior princess, seriously, and very insistent for attention, and figuring out what she wants isn't easy - but Melinda figured out it's food and butt rubs. Eddie, our handsome, large black & white male tabby, who is particular about who he likes, he loved Melinda and gave her massages to wake her up in the morning, which means he REALLY loved her. She was so respectful of our home, and washed not only her linens, but offered to wash the down comforter (the animals slept in bed with her), and that helped me out very much. I know there are people who are less expensive, I've hired them, but remember, you get what you pay for - I've had not great experiences with other house/pet sitters, and Melinda has us spoiled -- She's now the first person I call. I also loved that when she came for the visit, she had printed forms we went over, all the conditions she had, and explaining the service she provides. #1 reason to hire Melinda - she's great with the animals, but more than that - you get a professional house/pet sitter, with vet-tech experience so you can relax and enjoy your vacation, and not have to worry about your fur-babies, and she'll keep you up to date as much as you'd like -- once a day was good for me. I loved the photos, and the videos. After my husband and I were home for a few hours, our animals seemed to be looking for Melinda - Eddie even meowed, and he rarely does -- I think he was calling for her.Jan 25, 2019VerifiedStay and Play Pet Sitting's reply
I just read your review. It brought tears to my eyes. You, and the fur babies, are the reason I do what I do. Your appreciation means the world to me. Thank you!
Melinda is great, and I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a stay over pet sitter! When we met before her stay, I was impressed by her thorough questionnaire and note taking; she is a true professional and takes her responsibilities very seriously, which I found very comforting. I got to see her interact with my pets, and we carefully reviewed everything she would need to do during her stay. By the end of our meeting, I felt 100% confident she would take great care of my dog, two cats, and fish! I had been stressed about leaving them all for so long, but knowing Melinda would be with them made me feel so much better! She stayed at our house for 8 nights, and I loved getting her daily texts with photos (I’ve attached a few of the pics she took to this post!) or videos of my fur babies! All of them seemed to take to her quickly, which made me happy! Melinda is also very resourceful; a few things went wrong at the house (e.g. the garage door battery decided to start beeping on the second day of her stay), and she was able to fix any problems quickly on her own. She also left the house neat and clean, which I really appreciated. Next time we need a pet sitter, I will definitely use Melinda. She truly exceeded my expectations across the board, and I would highly recommend her services to anyone!Sep 21, 2018Verified
I have a 2 year old Persian cat named Milo. I have not left Milo since I got him 2 years ago due to fact that he was a very sick kitten and is very sensitive. I decided to go on a long overdue family visit out of state at Christmas and I am so lucky to have found Melinda. She came and met myself and Milo before I left out of town and I immediately felt comfortable with her. She is very organized and detail oriented. I felt like I gave her so much to remember with Milo's care but she took notes and asked a lot of questions. When I went on my trip, I was so pleased with Melinda's care of Milo. She updated me everyday and provided me with pictures of Milo. She is a wonderful pet sitter and loves animals. When I got back Milo looked happy and relaxed and my home was as clean as I left it:) I highly recommend Melinda and her services. I will continue to use her as my choice for a pet sitter, in fact I already have her booked again! I am so happy to know that I can go away and not be stressed about my cat. Thank you Melinda:)Jan 7, 2019Verified
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?- My rates start at $75 for an overnight stay in your home. If you have multiple pets the cost of each dog is $50 and cat is $25. Price also depends on their needs; medication administration, not house trained, and frequent long distance walks may be an additional charge. An overnight stay is a FULL day and night starting at 12 noon and finishing at 12 noon the next day; that's 24 hours! Each additional hour is $10 babysitting fee. Sorry, but I do not board animals at my home.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I like to speak to the potential client on the phone. Then I will email you some information about me including my resume, reference letter, picture, and information about the services that I offer. The next step is to set up a free one hour meet and greet at your home at a time that works for both of us this way we can see if this relationship is a good fit. If possible I like the client to complete an information questionnaire about their pets needs so that the meet and greet can really be about bonding. At the meet and greet we discuss all the details including daily schedule, feeding procedure, medications, supplements, treats, exercise, walks, play, toys, personalities, etc. To reserve the dates for the stay, half of the total is due as a deposit. The remaining balance is paid via check and is left at the clients home for pick up during my stay. I leave your home as clean if not cleaner than when I arrived, and your pets are safely awaiting your return.
